Another Comment Worthy Of A Post On Dr. Nolte

"My friend is devastated. Totally broken hearted. She took her beautiful 20 month old female pug to Dr. Nolte to have her spayed in Jan 2010. The dog had recently had puppies and was in excellent health. She called about 2 hours after dropping her off, and Dr. Nolte said we had some problems and she died. Guess he was not going to call her to tell her. An investigation is now ongoing."

I took my cat there many years ago after I backed over him with my car. Dr. Nolte said he only had a broken jaw. So he was going to operate the next morning ( Saturday) and for me to get a cage for him to stay in when he came home. I got the cage and set up a room for him. Saturday passed, Sunday passed, no word from the Dr. and he had told me to pick him up on Monday morning. I called on Monday to see what time I could get him, and was told to hold a minute, then the girl came back on the phone and told me he had died over the weekend. I immediatly pulled my other cats records and picked my cat up to bury him, he had never been operated on... I never did anything about this and am sorry I did not, but I tell everyone about this that wants to take their animals there.I am sorry for your loss. I know how you feel....

OMG! I cannot believe that this guy is still practicing, and that if he is, anybody is still trusting him with their pets.
RUN HIM OUT OF TOWN!!!!!!

I wouldn't take a pet rock to that guy! He would find some way to destroy it. He clearly has no business having the title "veternarian". I can think of quite a few other titles that would suit him way better. What gets me is why are people still taking their pets to this guy? Haven't there been enough horror stories that people would stop taking their animals to this guy? He needs to be put out of practice...something doesnt add up as to why he isn't. Especially after the amount of "accidents" hes had. Not only is this guy incompetent, he is a douche bag too. He has no personality, he has a huge ego ( not sure why have you seen him?), and hes rude and ignorant. He acts as if he is doing his clients a "favor" by treating their animals. He clearly has no passion for animals or his field of work. I hope this asshole gets what he deserves. He already helped run one business into the ground(Mulligans) and now hes taking innocent lives. Shame on you Dr.Nolte.

A friend of mine tool her jack russel there a feew years ago to have a simple procedure done and when she picked him up, it looked like they had beat the dog. She was living with me at the time and the dog looked bad. He was missing a tooth and face was very swollen. She had to take him to the Pet ER that night because he was bleeding badly from his mouth. They said it had looked like he had been hit with something and jerked around by the neck. She contacted his office and they said he was fine when he left there. She refused to pay the $300 bill and was going to take him to court. I have took my dogs there several times just to get shots and little things. Hes very reasonably priced but i would never leave an animal there without being there myself. Hes not a very good vet at all.

I thought his license was suspended for awhile in 09???

Well I have been going to Dr. Nolte for years with my 2 cats and Dog. And we have never had any problems. You mean to tell me with all the other vets in town they don't have animals dying for different causes everyday. I'm sure if all vets had to post what animals die in their offices people would be surprised. Just because a group of people have a hard on for Dr. Nolte doesn't make him a bad Vet. Especially the person who ran over their cat with their car! and you want to blame him! you can't be serious.

WHY, WHY, WHY!!! WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP TAKING THEIR BELOVED PETS TO THIS MONSTER!

If you want a good vet, go to Johnson_mckee animal hospital on Snow Hill Rd in Salisbury. D.r Peters and Dr. Poisker and excellent vets.

Where is this vet located? I've seen several posts on this guy but I can't say I've ever seen WHERE his office is!
Some people taking their pets to him may not realize they are actually going to HIS office.
We have 3 cats and I can tell you that this is not the only bad vet around. Our cats haven't died but there are some other vet offices that will totally rip you off and then tell you after the fact.
We had all 3 of our cats spayed and neutered. We did the male first to protect the 2 females (mother and sister cat). That one went fine. We then took in the mother cat after she was out of heat. That one too went fine except then they wanted to charge us for every "shot" they could think of. We explained that these 3 cats NEVER went outside and that the 3 babies had never been outside whatsoever since they had been born. It didn't matter to them. We then took in the 3rd cat to have her spayed. We asked for all of the costs of the spay and neuter up front.
Upon taking in the 3rd cat for spaying, upon pickup they tell us that it was more costly because they did it while she was in heat!
They had already told us with the first female that it was dangerous to do while in heat so we waited to have her done for her safety.
We would not have taken the other one in if we had known she was in heat but we feel they should have called us first, not just do it and put her in jeopardy and increase their fee and THEN tell us afterwords!
Just be careful because you never know where to take them or not to take them.
Our incident was at Eastern Shore Veterinarian in Laurel, DE. Our cats will NEVER go back there!

I took my cat to him to be neutered and he was DEAD within 2 days. Can I blame Dr. Nolte for that? Do you want to know what he said to me and my husband? He said "What do you expect for $18.00?". Yes, it was a long time ago - 1983. Well, we did not EXPECT a dead cat. There was a necropsy done by the Dept. of Ag. (that had to be authorized by Dr. Todd because Dr. Nolte refused). My cat died from a "dirty surgical instrument - infection had spread to his brain".

What's with the "hard-on" attitude? You seem very defensive of this so called vet. People here are just letting other people know of their bad experiences and you get defensive. I am sure if people had bad experiences with other vets we would hear about them. But where are they????

I complained about him over 20 years ago! I cannot believe this idiot is still a vet! He has no business touching any animal. Other vets have even logged complaints about him. Wake up people and don't ever take anything to that creep. Healing Hands Animal hospital is by far the best around. They are caring, compasionate and very knowledgable in all aspects of vetrinary medicine. My 18 year old dog is living proof of how great they are there. And, back to Nolte, report him to the board and don't let up, he needs to be stopped and I cannot believe he still has his license! Kare

11:27... I agree.
I have taken my pets there for years. They go there for their yearly shots, He spayed my female bull mastiff, she never had a problem. My cat was sick running a temp b/c she was bitten by another cat, he knew exacly what was wrong. She is fine, very healthy. I have heard so many horror storys & I am still very pleased with his care & they way my pets & I are treated @ every visit.
As for Johnson & McKee, who can even afford to walk into that place.

4 years ago I took my Jack Russell puppy in to get vaccinations (standard procedure). After a week or so she began to develop large growths on her back where the injection site was. I took her back in to see Dr. Nolte and he walked in, gave her some kind of shot which he never told me about and sent me on my way. Who knows what that was??? After experiencing his so called "bed side manner" I knew to stop going to his place of business.

You have the right to voice your opinion...just like we do. So you think this guys a good vet? I am glad YOU'VE had such good experiences with Dr.Death. BUT, when he kills one of your cats remember how you defended him. Yes animals die everyday..and so do people. Do you think if a physician kept having patients die during simple office procedures, that would be ok too? NO it wouldnt and something would be done about that..our animals deserve that same "respect". Would you take your child to a physician with that kind of history, as you take ur cats to him? Accidents do happen all the time..but when it becomes a regular occurence one has to wonder if he knows what hes doing or just doesnt care enough to do it correctly. And as for you thinking people have a "hard on " for Dr. Nolte as you say. Trust me Dr. Nolte isnt important enough for me to waste a breath on...but the animals are. THATS why people are upset. Noone could give 2 shits about this guy, we just want whats right to be done!

I agree 12:51 Healing Hands has a great group. With any surgery, vet needs they are the place to go.

I can say Dr. Nolte saved my lab, she got out of our back yard and was hit by a car and was bleeding from the nose badly and he saved her. After all the complaints against him we are now going to Johnson McKee.

Your dog is ready to be bred when she reaches at least two years of age and is:

1. a champion or performance titled
2. health checked to be free from hereditary disease
3. tested to be free from brucellosis

AND

You are ready to be a breeder when:

1. You have mentored under experienced show/performance breeders for several years.
2. you are have homes already for all pups - before the mating
3. you are prepared to offer guarantee on the pups
4.you have learned enough to offer educated support and advice to your puppy buyers for the life of the pup

In dog years, no female dog under 14 (2 human years) should be bred.

The breeding of a dog that is the age of the one in this post is dumb. The dog, with 63 days of gestation and at least 42 days (6 weeks) of nursing before being spayed, would have been just over 16 human months, or just over 9 dog years old. Too early to expect a totally good outcome. Too bad most people don't know this.

12:26 I feel your pain. Eastern shore Vet in Laurel was horrible to deal with. Hated every minute that we dealt with them. If you need a great vet I highly recommend Pet medical center in Delmar,DE. Dr. Pappas is one of the most caring vets you could ever ask for. Their rates are also some of the best around!

5:05 That's funny. We left Pet Med Center for some of the same crap and went to Eastern Shore in Laurel.
We have known Dr. Long for many many years and when he was running the business, it was excellent. Since he became no longer involved, the place went to the birds. We do have friends who still take their animals there out of loyalty to Dr. Long but they have also told us of issues there now.
I will say that Dr. Pappas was very caring the first time we took the cats in for their initial shots but then after that, it was misc. charge here, new shot needed there...always wanting more money.
We took the mother cat in because she was a stray pregnant for the second time in a year and she lost the first litter of 4 kittens. Winter was coming and I just couldn't bear the thought of another litter dying on her. Only 2 out of 4 of the second litter survived but they are very healthy and so is the mother cat. We did this out of the goodness of our hearts and chose to keep all 3 cats afterwards so they would all survive. We explained that we really didn't have a lot of money for shots, spay and neuter and wanted to just do the "necessary" ones. They tried to convince us they all 3 needed the feline leukemia shots (2 shots each) even though they had all been tested and did not have it. There were 2 other shots they told us they needed too. Upon further research when we got home, we found the others were not needed for strictly indoor cats. The rabies shots are another thing but we went ahead and got those because we understood the dire importance of rabies shots.
I'm done venting now.
I don't understand why some have forgotten how to do an HONEST days work for an HONEST dollar!
Thanks for reading.

Dr. Pappas and her staff have been nothing but extremely caring and professional to me each time I go in the office. They are always ready to help anytime I call with a problem and make time for me if I have to bring in my 13 year old cocker to see them. I was really impressed with the caring way that Dr. Pappas attended to my 'best friend'.

I love Dr. Pappas. As a former Vet Tech in another state, I am pretty aware when I am being nickle and dimed, and she is legit. She errs on the side of caution and sometimes it's a little overkill, but I think she has the mindset to make sure she has covered every angle and made sure the pet is well cared for.

There used to be a great vet in Berlin, kind of across from AGH, but he retired years ago, and that was a real loss to the community.

Most serial killers and sociopaths started out as animal abusers. This is sick and scary if it was true he did not even give an animal's body back in one case. WTF is he doing w/these animals? Maybe he is doing something sick like the DE pediatrician or Thomas Leggs only to animals. It seems there is an epidemic of this animal cruelty, abuse, and incompetence on his part either way from all I've read. Was he the guy who was also the vet once charged w/sexual harassment at the Salisbury Zoo or am I thinking of someone else? If so, lots of red flags going up here! What is happening on Delmarva lately?

For those "down south" I highly recommend Somerset Animal Hospital. I have had pets going there for 20 years for surgeries, injuries and yearly care. Never had a problem. I had to have a dog put down there and was suprised to recieve a card a few weeks later stating that they had made a donation in my dog's name to a vet school to help other animals in the future. They are good people there.
