Pleas folks, go sign this petition. There is no reason we should keep taking this kind of abuse from our criminal justice system. Society failed this child in so many ways, please don't let this be another one.

Signed and sealed. I still say child sex offenders should have "Molester" branded on their foreheads if the system is going to continue to let these monsters out of jail.

Joe thanks ever so much for posting this. Perhaps you can post it so it gets more attention. Talk is cheap. We can write, comment and read blogs all day but unless we actually DO something - we will see no change! My hope is that SBY readers will now be challenged and go and sign the petition to make a real difference. Doing so together we can take action and make a real lasting difference.
No one’s child should ever have to be a victim as Sarah again - no one!

What's the goal of this "petition"?

I only see a "we don't like the system" letter here.

Please define what exactly is "Sarah's Law". Maybe then I can sign it, otherwise I don't know what this is aiming to accomplish.

We don't need new laws. What we need is change in the response to the laws we already have in place. The change is needed in the courtrooms. Those like Leggs ignore the laws we already have, due in part because some judge will suspend the majority of the sentence imposed.

What I would like to see though, is an attachment added to those on the sex offenders registy, detailing their crime. Names of victims not included of course.

While the idea of a petition is great this is not a petition it is a rant of anger. Anger will not accomplish anything. There are no proposed changes in the "petition" there is no researched evidence to support changing the laws. I am as hurt and saddened as everyone else about Sarah however, this make shift rant is not going to do anything to help other children. If someone is truly wanting to change the laws and sit down to discuss ways to do so please let's arrange something so we can do that constructively. I would assist in any way possible to have the laws changed. As we all know a make shift letter is not going to fly when it gets to the governor or mayors.
