Salisbury Police Department Press Releases


On December 8, 2009 at approximately 6:15 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to a residence on the one hundred (100) block of First Street for the report of a female calling for help. Upon arrival the officers heard a female calling for help from within a residence. The officers forced entry into the residence and found a female victim laying in a bathroom that had been stabbed numerous times. The victim was transported to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center and is currently undergoing surgery. The officers were able to identify the suspect as a male who lived in the same residence. The officers located the suspect in the area which resulted in the suspect fleeing on foot. After an extended foot chase, the suspect was apprehended. The investigation is continuing.

CHARGES: Attempted first degree murder
First degree assault
Second degree assault

On December 7, 2009 at approximately 2:50 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police arrested the below listed suspect on an outstanding warrant for a burglary that occurred on July 15, 2009. On that date officers of the Salisbury Police made contact with the below listed suspect as a result of a call advising that the suspect may be armed with a weapon. The officers made contact with the suspect who almost immediately fled from the area on foot. During the foot pursuit, the suspect broke into a residence on Delaware Avenue. The officers located the suspect within the residence and took the suspect into custody.

ARRESTED: Larry Donte Jones, 25 years of age
Salisbury, Maryland

CHARGES: Fourth Degree Burglary
Failure to obey a lawful order

On December 4, 2009 at approximately 1:19 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to the Giant Food Store on South Salisbury Boulevard for the report of a shoplifter. Upon arrival the officers met with store security who advised that store employees had observed the below listed suspect attempt to take a large amount of beer from the store without making payment. In addition, the suspect was not old enough to possess beer. The beer was recovered and returned to the store.

ARRESTED: Juvenile, 15 years of age
Salisbury, Maryland

CHARGES: Theft (under $ 100)
Underage possession of alcohol

DISPOSITION: Released to parent

On December 5, 2009 at approximately 4:58 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to a residence on the six hundred (600) block of Baker Street for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival the officers met with an adult male victim who advised that a family member had shot him in the eye with a bb gun. The victim advised that he and the family member had gotten into an argument which led to a physical fight. After the fight, the suspect obtained a bb handgun and shot the victim in the eye. The victim received treatment for the injury at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center.

On December 5, 2009 at approximately 8:05 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to the area of Newton Street for the report of an intoxicated and disorderly subject. Upon arrival the officers observed the below listed suspect causing a disturbance in a residence. The suspect was made to leave the residence and relocated in the middle of the street yelling and causing a further disturbance. The officers attempted numerous times to have the suspect leave the area and quiet without success.

Disturbing the peace

Public intoxication

On December 5, 2009 at approximately 10:42 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police arrested the below listed suspect on an outstanding Maryland State Parole Commission Parole Retake warrant.

ARRESTED: Jamie Lynn Mills, 31 years of age
Salisbury, Maryland

CHARGES: Parole Retake Warrant

DISPOSITION: Released to Maryland State Police
