Resume:

Delaware State Police have arrested a 22 year-old Dover man after he and second suspect robbed 5 college students and carjacked a sixth victim.

Troopers charged Clark after he was stopped on US 13 near College Road by Dover Police early Sunday morning. Clark and a second unidentified suspect were allegedly on the state fairgrounds when they confronted 4 Wesley students and 1 Delaware State University student outside the Dover Building. The students had been attending a dance sponsored by the Delaware State University Student Government Association.

As three of the five students were entering a car to leave, the driver saw Clark and the second suspect approach the car. The driver, an 18 year-old Wesley student, got in the driver’s seat and drove off because he felt the suspects were going to rob him. As the Wesley student drove off he realized he had left 2 of his friends behind. When he returned to the area the remaining victims were running toward the car. Clark displayed a handgun and confronted the students. After Clark and his accomplice cornered them by the car they began to fleece the vicitms.

After the robbery the two suspects fled. As the suspects were fleeing one the victims began to follow the suspects and the pair split up. Clark forced his way into a 1999 Dodge Neon and told the 20 year-old Delaware State University student to drive towards the university located in Dover. The car was also occupied by 3 other female students at the time. As the Neon drove north on US 13 witnesses followed the car and called police. Dover Police stopped the car near the university and took Clark into custody.

Troopers recovered the firearm that was used and discovered it was reported stolen from South Carolina.

He was charged with 5 counts of Robbery 1st, Carjacking, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Wearing a Disguise, Receiving a Stolen Firearm and Conspiracy 2nd.

He was committed to the Department of Correction in default of $36,100.00 bail.

Troopers are still searching for the other suspect who was involved in the crime. Anyone with any information is asked to call “Crime Stoppers.” Callers may remain anonymous. Tips may also be forwarded to law enforcement through tip lines maintained by Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or on line at www.tipsubmit.com.
