SHA New Striping On Rt. 50 & Mill St.

Joe,

I was coming in to work this morning and couldn’t help but notice the SHA has re-striped Route 50 at Mill Street when they did the bridge repair this past weekend. They did such a fine job I wanted to send you a picture of their work.

Once the leaves blow away it'll look like a 3rd grade art project. Or maybe 2nd grade.

Our state government employees at work! They should fire the ones responsible. But , of course you can't fire a black employee.

That's better than the work on the bridge, since that doesn't happen til this weekend.

The bridge repair wasn't done last weekend - it was put off until this coming weekend due to weather.

How do you know it was a black employee? Racist much?

They don't walk along the road painting by hand. Do you really expect someone to walk along in front of the trucks sweeping the area to be painted?

I need a job, it's to bad they only hire people with half a brain!

Anon 10:42 Yes I expect the surface to be prepared so the job last past the next rain event. There is a thing called a street cleaner so the over paid state employees don't have to get their hands dirty.

Not a shock, considering I saw a crew of 4 the other day filling a tiny pothole

Yep, saw the same thing on a county road. Big glob of pine needles on the center line. Painted right on top of them. Now they are gone and so is the line.

10:42, are you really that dumb? Of course they don't paint by hand, but they don't sweep by hand, either. Yeah, that yellow paint is my tax money, so just like my house, I expect the painter to prep the surface so the paint job lasts.

Are your expectations so low that they may as well have taken money, thrown it on the road, painted it, and waited for the wind to blow?

No wonder this country is in deep doo-doo.

State employee did not do this job. It had to be contracted out to a private contractor. However, a state inspector should have been overseeing to make sure the work was completed properly.

Anon 1:11 you are full of crap. I just past the 4 vehicle SHA caravan still painting the road on Rt.50 and Main St. Did I mention 4 vehicles???

Everyone seems to have forgotten we are on the eastern shore. There isnt any pride or accountability around here. Get used to it. Its the locals way of saying its "laid back".

Talk about having way to much time on our hands....Spend more time with your family instead of leaving early to critique other peoples jobs...poor as it may be!!!

Anon it is tax payers money blowing away with the leaves. If you don't mind our State Government pi$$ing away money that is your right but personally it pi$$es me off.
P.S. If you don't like it there is a little X at the top right of your computer screen. USE IT

10:56 & 11:14 - I wasn't aware that the STATE had a street sweeper. The city does (or did) but probably would say that Rt 50 is state property so they probably wouldn't sweep. When have the separate government agencies actually worked together?

That being said, last time I actually saw the city street sweeper used (which has been quite a while), to my recollection it did not do a very good job at getting the leaves and trash from the side of the street.

Imagine if you filled out your tax return with the same care and diligence used by those incompetent fools that painted the leaves.

Yes, they could have used a street cleaner machine on the road before painting, or a high pressure air hose, or scheduled the painting at a different time of the year.
These fools that did this painting should be forced to pay for the paint and be forced to do the job over for free.
Accountability only occurs in the private sector though. The private sector is what the Obama administration is trying to eliminate.

It is what they call "Job Security". The employee was probably thinking... So what if I have to come back and redo it, they can't fire me, not my job to sweep and it gives me more work! Your tax dollars hard at work!!

Actually, we locals do take pride in our gorgeous home. This is not a laid back way of life it is a perfect example of laziness. Being laid back is not the same thing! So lets not blame "the locals" lets blame the lazy people who didnt prepare properly.

Anon 8:26 you arent the typical local. Look around, ppl with trash in their yards, broken down cars, you name it. Im a come here that takes ALOT of pride in everything I do and I hate to say it but ppl around here are lazy and dont care about much. I've met some great ppl that live here but the majority of the locals I know fall into the lazy category.
