If you have ever read or heard that the Founding Fathers were all deists and atheists, something inside told you that did not sound right. His research has led to his new book, 1776 Faith: The Christian Worldview of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence. His book 1776 Faith shows the Christian worldview of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, other Founders, the days of prayer for the country, the original state constitutions which had a place for God, instances of Divine Providence on the young nation, the Christian colleges of the era, the effect of the Great Awakening on the Founders and the Christian music of the era.

I sure hope we get back to the original values of the Founding Fathers. You know, when women could not vote or serve in office, black people were largely slaves, and tax dollars went to support churches that you did not attend. I'm sure the book celebrates all of that, too. I'm sure the author means well, but it is silly to try to make these guys out to be perfect Christians who lived in a golden age.

10:22 here. I assure you I have read the Constitution many times (enough to know to capitalize it). The authors of the Constitution did not have the foresight to see that counting black people as 3/5 of a person was a bad idea. That had to be overturned much later. I'm sorry that we "libs" bug you with our knowledge.
Another good reference for this topic is on a website by David Barton called Wallbuilders.com. If you into American history it's a great reference site. He has links to historical documents, great reading if a person is into that.
29 signers of the 56 had SEMINARY DEGREES! No, our Founding Fathers were not holy, but most were Christian. Therefore were of the same type of mind.They knew in 1774 that their cause was futile, but their faith kept then strong.
David Barton is a great historian who knows what he's talking about. If you have any doubts about our Christian heritage I suggest you read him and find the truth.
It is very important that we get back to the values of God and not squelch people from reading the Bible, praying, and discussing their faith with others. That is what our founding fathers fought for.
I guess Mr. Lib Anonymous above would have counted each slave, as opposed to a 3/5 count, thus ensuring southern dominance in the House of Respresentatives and the Electoral College well into the 1900's. The 3/5 compromise was an effort by those who opposed slavery to minimize southern political power. Slave states wanted to count each slave and thus gain the added representation. Mr. Lib Anonymous needs to learn his history.
God blessed our founders and I'm thankful for their courage, wisdom, and most importantly their FAITH.
