"It was a tragic accident but some incidents make it worse
1. When Salisbury Fire Dept. went down and took charge of the scene their actions made the fuel containment far worse than should have been.
2. State "officials" were driving recklessly around the scene area putting responders in harms way. It has been reported up here that a princess anne police officer or county officer had to stop one state truck and issue a speeding ticket. Probably should have or could have been reckless driving."

Does the fire department have a new truck yet to pull the hazmat unit or did they have to use a "soda" truck to pull it with. That was probally the problem. The soda truck instead of a new truck. Poor excuse is better than none.
Please elaborate in order to make this statement more than opinion or conjecture
If someone is going to say these statements please sign your name. This is a very unfair statement to say. Tell us what SFD did that was so wrong? Tell us what you would have done?
Joe used to say that he would not post these types of statements without a name so they would hold water to them. Oh how the times have changed in order to get hits!
I am 100% sure that this post will not get posted even tho it is in "Joes so called rules".
Just tired of Joe along with others thinking everything is bad with the fire service!
Also people asked yesterday about who would pay for the SFD guys and units being there. Well the insurenace company will. That is alos something that Joe always says.. Let the insureance solve all the money problems.
You people better be damn glad that the SFD has the men and trucks that they do! They do a very hard job that most would be scared to ever try. But its so easy to sit back on a computer and complain.
My saying is... If you don't like how its being done now or feel you can do better, than shut up and do it yourself. Get out and make a change. You can't make it change by being on a computer all day!

The Salisbury FD responded at the request of the Princess Anne FD to the incident. Capt. Walston from the P.A.F.D. was the incident commander and remains so throughout the incident. AC Gladwell was the operation officer of the incident at the request of Capt. Walston. AC Gladwell lead units from Princess Anne, Fruitland, Allen and Salisbury to achieve the many tactical objective in an incident such as this. There was some product which did leak out as a result of the accident into the ditch. This was a result of the accident and did not increase from the actions of any unit on the scene. The crews handled the incident in a very professional manner with Career and volunteers working side by side. Two of the best trained individuals in the area in Haz Mat were on scene with AC Gladwell and Paramedic Dave Merritt. You are correct about the Sheriff and the M.D.E. vehicle. I dont know if he received a ticket, but he was certainly upset. Everyone standing near me witnessed the way the truck came through the scene. I would invite you to explain your accusations of how Salisbury increased the contamination of the scene in this forum. I doubt we'll hear from you.

OMG all you hose beaters are the same. I attended Incident Command 101-103 I learned that Farman think they are in charge od all scenes. They ruin more evidence at Homicide scenes. They do a better job fcking up the scene than the perp. Guy is shot three times and has not taken a breath in over an hour. Let's blow in him, hit once or twice with the paddles. Hey who cares there is a killer out there. At least 9 of you will want to see the dead guy.
I am sure yesterday all you guys that like to play with long hard hoses had a ball. I have lost all repect for the F.D. around here. It is almost to sad to be funny. maybe if you had that new boat you could have cut it off at the river.

I don't know what happened there yesterday with the rescue workers or who did what but after reading these comments I'm thinking there was a life lost at that scene a gentleman, father, brother, uncle and whatever else he may have been to whoever so I'm just wondering how can the actions of the rescue workers became such a big deal...I live in Pocomoke and have driven by that scene yesterday and today knowing I was going to have difficulty getting thru and just knowing that someone died there just makes me have that much more patience waiting to get thru to go home...no matter who spilled what or sped thru how fast nor did I care who was given a ticket...it all happened so fast for some of those rescuers that they just weren't thinking...
Can somebody please tell me how a hazmat spread the contamination yesterday. The truck slammed into a tree and on its side. Whatever leaked out probably probably leaked out soon after that. The firemen placed a dirt barrier in the drainage ditch to control runoff. MDE drilled the tank and pumped it to another truck. If something had been done to worsen the situation, the MDE would certainly have stopped it. Research your facts before you post an ignorant statement. Everyone did a fine job yesterday.

The fire depts did their job great and everything they were supposed to do. As for MDE coming in like a bat outta hell like they were saving the day hours after the accident that's true. The deputy sheriff was pissed.

The speeding in front of both Selbyville schools is a constant criminal act. I have requested city police intervention...to no avail...Shame on the Commercial trucks, SUV'S and local pick-ups...Your children are walking there!
I don't have any problem with most of the firefighters and appreciate what most of the people who are really on the frontline and in the trenches re; public safety. What I do have a problem with is the arrogance of gordy bulldozing his way to get all the toys with all the bells and whistles. Its great when times are flush, but times are not flush right now. I betcha donations will be down because of his spending.
I can tell you this much.If Capt. Walston was there and incharge things where handled right!!!
