Wicomico County Is In Trouble Again

This time around it's not the County Landfill, it's the Board of Education.

At least 4 Tech Employees with the WCBOE are being investigated. Two have been suspended and two have been terminated. The two terminated will have charges filed against them. The Wicomico County Sheriff's Department has found at least one dozen computers that may have been stolen from the County. Some were actually found in fields and ditches near the suspects homes.

It turns out, (they're not sure just how many computers may be involved yet) some of the computers were allegedly considered out dated, rebuilt by employees and then sold as rebuilt computers. However, some were new laptops and an ongoing investigation continues into the matter.
Dr. Fredericksen is quite upset over this matter, (we're told) and you may want to consider contacting the Wicomico County Sheriff's Department if you happen to be in possession of a computer sold to you by any one of the four people involved in this case.
We expect to see a Press Release in the very near future on this matter. When I was tipped off on it I was told that this was along the scale of the Landfill case. Once I learned this I made immediate contact with the County Executive Rick Pollitt and he replied, "My understanding is that, from a monetary standpoint, there is no comparison." I have confirmed he is absolutely correct.
This new charge comes on the heels of a School Bookkeeper at Wi Hi who was terminated for financial impropriety. Hopefully we'll see a Press release on this matter as well.
More to come.

Sounds like the awesome scene in the movie Office Space!

I was hoping the breaking news would be about tubby's arrest!

This is just great! They make the students go to schools with no air conditioning, run down rooms and are always crying "POOR".......then hear this! I pay taxes dearly to live in Wicomico County and also city taxes (over $4000.00 a year taxes) and yet computers are being trashed in ditches! I cant even afford to buy a used computer let alone a new one and the BOE has the right to trash them! Clean house NOW!

And the beat goes on and the corruption continues and there is still no accountability in Wicomico County. Forget lifting the revenue cap, there is no reason anyone should trust Wicomico County. What will be the next Wicomicogate?

hmmmm...money transfers, hiding leftover money at the end of the budget year, teacher raises, obsurd job "reclassifications" and now theft? Sounds like the WBOE really needs all the money in their requested budget...

This confirms what I've said it before and I'll say it again...THE WBOE CAN GET CUT AND STILL PROVIDE A QUALITY EDUCATION!!!! Apparently, from this post, they have an abundance of computers-enough that they can be stolen and barely noticed...Come on Rick, let's look deeper into their budget instead of just looking at the bottom line and saying "Yes, whatever you want BOE"

Are you trying to hold The Super accountable for actions of a few idiot employees?

What the crap is financial impropriety ? Sounds like stealing to me!

What do we expect. The smartesy people in the Wboc and they just keep getting my tax dollars for raises. Goddamn its time for heads to roll in all the departments.Thisa totally unexceptable.

All criminals listen up. Mike Lewis is the sheriff of Wicomico County. You will be caught.

Yeah they throw away hundreds of computers every year.

We live in a culture of corruption, its everywhere.

none of the managers there know how to manage anything. they are so terrible at managing their resources and people that when things start piling up they just hire more people instead of re-examining their current processes and procedures and refining them into more efficient ones.

It sounds like the character of teachers is going down the tubes. They complain about not getting enough money, steal from the school system, some sexually molest our children, can't control the students in their class, etc. Observe some teachers that you know who have their own kids in the grocery store. They can't even control their own hoodlums that they have raised to be like that. It is time for President Obama to take charge of the educational system and let the private sector operate it efficiently and effectively. May Obama's name be sung by all our children and even the beautiful birds in the trees. Our church members in a local Salisbury house of the Lord want and will demand that our president's photograph be prominently placed in the hallways of all schools. Seeing his face upon entering school each morning will give peace and hope to our teachers and students. May President Obama unify America and the world to have universal order with God's blessing.

They just cut Mike Lewis' deputies pay and shit like this going on. WTF. Rick Pollitt nice knowing ya. That goes for the rest of the County Imbeciles. I mean council. Time for a clean sweep Wicomico. The next one lets put people in that hear the voter, do not lie to the people who pay the bills.

The B.O.E. is so much smarter than Rick Podunk and the rest of the county clowns it is pathetic.

73% of the voting public spoke and not one council member heard them. Your day is coming. There will be a reconing next election.

In response to this post-how much respect is this person looking for as a teacher when they can't even spell appreciate OR capitalize Wicomico? Please...these are the people teaching our children!! If we are paying them 42,000 a year...shame on us!! Raise? Want a raise? Go BACK to school and learn to spell...then we will consider it.

Half of the students I try to teach are rude, possess no home training, use vulgar language, know the administration isn't going to suspend them, refuse to do school work, talk or text message all day long, etc. American Education Week is Nov. 16-20 th.Come on out to the middle and senior high schools and see the zoo atmosphere that is in most classrooms, hallways, etc. Most teachers could qualify to be guards at ECI. Proper behavior starts in the home.

Get off your duff and get you and your department heads busy straightening out this county wide corruption. I don't want to hear ANYTHING about how poor the county is. I am SICK of this city and county sucking me dry and then look what is going on. We should stop paying our taxes until there is demonstrated prudence and accountablility in the city and county government offices and jurisdictions. This place has got to be the laughing stock.

Rev. James Bailey,
These were Technology personnel under the umbrella of the facilities department. THEY WERE NOT TEACHERS. They were not a part of the education staff in anyway. They JUST worked with the computers. So before you take any opportunity that you think is being presented to trash the teachers, stop and think about whether or not that is even what is being discussed. Not every topic is the appropriate place for you to preach. Also Obama is awesome but... he has nothing to do with this subject.

Look at management at the BOE and look at how many of them have children or spouses working as employees.

Is the County Government ever going to disclose that the teachers got a raise? How can teachers get a raise the same time as cops get a pay cut?
The county leaders must be upset at some of the cops.

Just wait till the news from Wi Hi comes out. Heard from a BOE member that it involves thousands of dollars. She was terminated and so should the principal. How can that idiot not know that money is missing. Didn't he check the books. Oh, if so, it be taken as a racial move and Al Sharpton would be involved.

Bill Cain, the new asst. supt., inherited this mess from Charlie Bounds who retired this summer. All of this did not just start since July. The Bd. hired a coordinator of employee relations as another NEW position even though funds are scarce. Now there are two full-time people doing public relations because no one has the guts to get rid of one of them. Why in the heck should there be two of them? Dr. Fredericksen is a joke.

Tracey Sahler and Faye Wilson are hired to do public relations for the BOE. What a waste to pay two full time people for a job that one could do. It happened because one of those two should have been fired a long time ago, but no one will take on that issue. Also, how many new positions were created this year? There is that new employee relations position and several Bridge teacher positions to help those who can't earn a diploma without lots of extra help. I hope the employers of those "graduates" have money enough to hire remedial help for them on the job.

Fredericksen more than likely had something to do with this..funny how we didnt have these issues till he showed up huh??? this man is crocked as H*LL.. trust me I know and so do alot of other people.

Now it would not surprize me if he told these people that they could have them and they say they stole them... ugh.. I feel for the kids under his power... he reminds me of the joker on batman..hahaha...

Plenty of money floating around the BOE. We have two mentors for stupid principals I guess. People ready to do the job should be hired like it used to be done. Vice principals and an office staff should be all the support a competent principal needs. Then we habe two public relations staff who scrutinize all info going out to parents so that they only hear good news like improvement in test scores, etc. We must not forget all the gravy jobs each school has such as math coach, an assistant, reading coach, testing coordinator so teachers are teaching to the test, etc. This goes on and on until it becomes ridiculous. My suggestion is get rid of all these special area staff and give each teacher 15 students to teach. Small groups learn so much better. Every year it takes more staff to do the same jobs done last year. Why? Because the present staff do less work each year. My wife has 29 students in her room and the special area teacher next door works with 2 to 6 children at a time. Make any sense to you? Not to me.

I work at the Bd. of Ed. and we all know how it goes. If you work hard and know what you're doing, you are given more to do. If you barely put forth any effort or you're not smart enough to do what you're paid to do, someone will be hired to help you do your job or the job will be reduced so you can handle it. Incompetent, lazy people are not fired, but positions are added all the time.

Lol 7:48 that is soooo true!

What's with the problem @ WiHi? Haven't seen anything in the Daily Times - Surprise! Thought WiHi was the "Preimer School" Way to go Hughes.
