What To Carry To Bed With You!

What to take to bed with you - not a joke . Pretty neat idea. Never thought of it before.

Put your car keys beside your bed at night.

Tell your spouse, your children, your neighbors, your parents, your Dr's office, the check-out girl at the market, everyone you run across. Put your car keys beside your bed at night.

If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies. This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar/rapist won't stick around. After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there. This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.

P.S. I am sending this to everyone I know because I think it is fantastic. Would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can't reach a phone

A fog horn is good too!

Keep a gun by your bedside. If you have kids, unload it in the morning and load it before going to sleep so they don't accidentally shoot each other. I keep a short double barreled shotgun loaded with buckshot.

This is a wonderful idea. We purchased ahome a few years ago and the people who owned the home always kept their car keys hanging beside their bed. Thought it strange at first but it makes perfect sense. The sound of the car alarm going off in the middle of the night would scare anyone away - and awaken the neighbors to see what was going on. Great Idea!

Another good tip: When going out in public places with your kids (parks, museums, etc) take a photo of them, as you arrive, with your cell phone. If they get lost, you have a picture taken *that day* of exactly what they look like and what they were wearing, to show authorities.

While this may be a good suggestion when it comes to scaring off a would-be intruder, I can see other problems cropping up.

The problem is that when a car alarm starts sounding off most folks will tend to ignore it, since false alarms from vehicles are commonplace.

Car alarms tend to be regarded as crying wolf these days.

Or if he is smart criminal he will use the noise to his advantage so that you don't know where he is when you come down the stairs with your gun, baseball bat or weapon of your choice to take him out when he breaks into your house.
