This is a new one and really "on point".
The only problem is.... it would be funnier if it weren't so true.

the main thrust of the song isn't to be funny and I know a lot of people out there associate Ray with comedy songs but he's done so many other kinds, too.
this song is actually satiric...more of a social commentary song on the tax system...it isn't suppose to be "ha ha" funny.
satire has been included in quite a few of his recordings. another song he recorded, called "Working for the Japanese" from 1991, points to the diminished American influence in America itself in favor of all things Japan. Some of the hooks in the song include the name dropping of many Japanese businesses and how if we're not careful we'll all end up drinking a peculiar beverage.
others in that satiric category include 2005's "The New Battle of New Orleans" which satirizes the looting that took place in the aftermath of the New Orleans disaster and how the media turned the ordeal into a political opportunity to attack George Bush and his administration.
1968's "Mr. Businessman" took aim at businessmen and corporate America while 2008's "Sucking Sound" spoofs Ross Perot and comments on events that have taken place since Perot coined the phrase...including the all too real situation of America's jobs being sent over-seas.
Ray's put out quite a few satirical songs in his career that weren't meant to be funny...more thought-provoking than whimsical.

although this has nothing to do with the song Ray recorded I will say that I suspect something fishy is going on with all of these czar's that Obama is appointing. Most people don't realize or understand that a czar doesn't need Senate approval and so, call it being paranoid, but I call it being rightfully concerned, but with Obama appointing people whose idea's he believes in, this will ultimately make Americanized socialism/communism an accepted practice to people too naive to realize what's going on.
America is a capitalist society...it's principles are rooted in capitalism...money, business, less government. It's a free country...we're suppose to be free to speak our mind and not be witch-hunted or called a racist because one disagrees with Obama's views. That's his explanation for anyone who's white...if you're white and you don't like what Obama stands for than in his eyes you're a racist.
Socialism and communism describe the idea's that Obama and his czar's speak about.
The phrase "Redistribution of wealth" is all one needs to hear to realize how much Obama is sympathetic to non-American values. Socialists and communists believe that everyone's income and status should be equal and that nobody should have more than anyone else...and that isn't the American way. At the same time, Obama is fueling the class war that's always gone on. He's fueling the poor with the emotional issue of money.
He thinks the rich should give up their money and hand it out to others. "redistributing the wealth" so those who haven't worked for anything can have the same standard of living. Of course, in my opinion, he's playing it out to be a "rich vs. poor" argument. He's calling it "unfair" and so he wants to make sure everyone's at the same income level, pretty much, which speaks to the very heart of socialism.

To be fair, though, back when Bush was President, why was it the opposition were saying that "if you support Bush, you're un-American". Why couldn't someone be a Bush supporter and an America lover at the same time?
I know that I was both...I was a Bush supporter because I felt he did a lot of things that were necessary even in the face of political risks. So why is it now, if you don't like what Obama is doing and I don't, why can't people love America and Democracy but at the same time hate what the President is wanting to do? How would it feel to you if slogans were created that said "If you support Obama, you're un-American". Would it not bother you in any way...even a small way? If so, then think of the Bush supporters that endured all of the anti-Bush commentary and how we were made to look like un-Americans because we approved 90-95% of what he did while in office.
So, the thing is, people can be critical of Obama if they want...just as people were critical of Bush. It goes both ways.

Time to tone down the rhetoric. You can hate what the President is wanting to DO.
Also, please do not confuse "capitalism" with a form of government, such "democracy" or "republic."
Capitalism is an economic system.
Communism is tyranny by the state. Capitalism without reasonable controls is tyranny by banks and corporations, which TJ warned us not to let run our country.
Too many before Obama did not heed that warning, and now, our country is is deep doo.
But there is no need to hate the man.

First of all, my rhetoric is at whatever level I want it to be. suggesting I tone it down actually sounds like you want to dictate or control or censor how I convey my thoughts. It shouldn't matter how little or how much rhetoric I choose to insert into my commentary. When did it become a sin to use rhetoric in a political discussion?
If you have issues with people that are overly zealous toward the political party they align themselves with, fine, but don't say "time to tone down the rhetoric" because not everyone expresses their opinions the same way. America is great for all the diversity. Everyone's different.
Secondly...I know capitalism is an economic system. It's America's economic system. It obviously doesn't bother you that the President surrounds himself with radical advisers...and it doesn't bother you that the President is a revolutionary at heart or else he wouldn't be appointing these radical, far left-wing people into high level positions in the administration who want to become rulers of the country instead of working for the people.
The entire point of my bringing up the socialists and communists is because it's those kind of people who Obama has appointed as czar's and you suggest "but there is no need to hate the man".
Well, in all fairness, I don't know him personally, so, no I can't say that I hate him, but having said that I CAN hate his policies and the things he's wanting to do which is what I said in the last comment I posted, or so I thought?
I never said I hated him as a person. I don't know him...but I hate his position on issue's which is pretty obvious. I'm not a Democrat and I'm not a liberal...so his views on 99% of anything I'm going to be having problems with.
You brought up Sarah Palin stating that Obama is un-American. Do you know why she said that? I assume it's because his speeches and his vision and everything else he spoke about during the campaign doesn't resemble what America is all about. Obama has a revisionist aura about him and he wants to make America resemble something of which it isn't...and so that's why I assume Palin called Obama un-American. Of course, she could also be calling him un-American because of his origins. It's hard to tell.
But anyway...since this is considered a heavily opinionated blog site, rhetoric should be allowed at whatever tone the author see's fit if it's helping him or her get their opinion across.
