Texans Demand Soverignty Or Secession

Thousands of Texans poured into the capitol and other major cities across the Texas on Saturday to demand that their elected officials immediately deliver an ultimatum to Washington: "sovereignty or secession."

With the federal government rampantly violating their 10th Amendment rights like never before, refusing to defend their borders, and bankrupting this country with backwards leftist insanity, many Texans ( a lop sided majority) feel they need to draw a line in the sand.

Armed with a statewide petition to that effect, they called on their leaders to follow through on state sovereignty legislation passed earlier this year by sweeping margins. Overwhelmingly, the response from state officials has been supportive.

They have the backing of Texas Representatives Brandon Creighton, who drafted their 10th Amendment legislation (HCR 50), Leo Berman, who drafted a similar states' rights bill to protect gun rights (HB 1863), and 97 others who voted to confront non-stop federal intrusions. They also have the support of Governor Rick Perry, who signed HCR 50 into law in May.

Two gubernatorial candidates in the upcoming election, Debra Medina and Larry Kilgore, spoke at the event, along with a slew of other candidates for the Texas legislature.

With so much of the state government cohesive with the concerns of its constituents, it seems there is adequate vigilance against Obama's ongoing war on the Constitution and no immediate need to push for full-blown secession.

But there is a growing sense that Texas teeters on the edge. If Obama's plans materialize, Texas will secede from the Union.

Little known fact, when Texas (as a Sovereign nation before it was a State) joined the Union, they kept an "Escape" clause in their agreement with the Union, that essentially gives Texas the ability to leave the Union should Texans chose to do so..

Before coming to the Old Line State of Maryland, I lived in Texas 20 years. One thing I learned is that Texans, above all other states, prize the "Rights of We The People" above all else. I found it a super place to live. I think you would too.....

Excerpted from...http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/4/15/720533/-Let-Texas-Secede

This would mean 34 less electoral votes for the Republicans. It would mean 2 less Republican senators, and 20 less Republicans in the House of Representatives. This would remove 25 million people from the governments responsibility. At 6.5% unemployment, that means there are 1,625,000 people we don't need to worry about finding jobs for. About a quarter of Texas lacks health insurance. This would solve 6 million of the 50 million uninsured overnight. Texas is also 49th in verbal SAT scores and 46th in math SAT scores. We would instantly improve our national education ranking.

I know some of you are going to complain about the loss of tax revenue. Texas has a 0.94 federal spending to tax revenue ratio. That means we would only lose $0.06 per tax dollar. Well worth it in my book.

Ok here is that common sense thing again. No matter what the statistics show you there is something common sense should show you. If TX wants out, then Hawaii, then Alaska, followed by Florida, Maine, Kansas, continue on down the line in any order you so chose.... where does that leave the "United" in the States of America? Is there a single person or group of people in our government worthy of dividing our country? I sure as heck don't think so! Obama's posse is doing more damage to the US than any appointed U.S. president I can recall. He is doing what was done during the civil war, dividing the people of America.

Maybe Texas isn't the most intelligent state, nor the biggest spenders, but the legals that reside there are Americans regardless of personal opinions. Texas is part, a large part, of this country. There is something very wrong in politics when states want to be set free!!!! I know a lot of Texans and I know they typically order their loyalty in this way family, God, and country. If the overwhelming majority is deciding they do not want to be a part of a country they list in the top 3 most important parts of their lives, that should be a red flag to many of us. However, there will always be the idget that worries about money in his pockets, political devotion, and "what I get from the deal".

This is how it will start. None of us can say how it will end.

They sound like a bunch of eight-year old kids, who didn't get their way with a playmate..."I'm going home!"

Let your state become overrun with illegals and watch your property values plummit, watch the drug war come into your town, watch the goverment stand behind the illegals and shit on you and then say they didnt get their way.

Sad isn't it? One government body making the LEGAL citizens want to retreat. It makes no sense, so why are we the people still allowing it to happen? If there were ever a time for every natural born citizen to join together and buck the system this is it. There is no reason the goverment should be permitted to ruin our country and no reason why any of us, white, black, native American,Etc should not fight side by side to overcome this disgraceful administration

If they do it, I will be looking for a job and home in Texas. I have been contemplating it for along time already. It could be the true utopia where the government does what it is supposed to do-provide for the security of the country and gets the hell out of the way. What a wonderful place that would be-everybody has a job and pulls their weight and criminals actually get punished (imagine that).

Just like a Conservative. Waving the flag in everyone's face until they lose an election, and then talking about secession.

Traitors.
