Delaware State Police on Sunday August 30, 2009 investigated a burglary complaint on the unit block of North Main Street Magnolia, Delaware. The incident occurred at 3:00 P.M. when Ricardo S. Cruz went to this residence allegedly to purchase a bicycle. The 26 year old female victim answered the door and was familiar with Cruz. Cruz was asked to come back later at which time he began to make inappropriate comments and sexual advances.
The female victim later went outside to see if Cruz had left the area and found him standing in the back yard exposing himself in an inappropriate manner. Cruz once again followed the victim to her residence touching her in an unlawful manner. The victim yelled at the suspect to leave, at which time Cruz fled from the residence.
The 26 year old male contacted Cruz about the incident and was verbally threatened.
State Police initially were given the name of “poppy” however after obtaining additional details about the suspect learned his true name as being Ricardo S. Cruz. Upon contacting Cruz on Flint Drive at his residence he provided the false name of Juan Martinez. Troopers conducted a fingerprint analysis of Cruz’s prints and were able to positively obtain his true identity.
Cruz was taken into custody and arrested for the above listed offenses. Cruz also was wanted on two charges dating back to January 1, 1998. These charges are:
Unlawful Sexual Intercourse 1st degree
Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child
Cruz in 1998 is alleged to have committed an inappropriate act with a female victim who was 10 at the time of the crime. Cruz was indicted on these charges and has been on the run since his indictment. This incident occurred in Lincoln, Delaware.
Cruz was remanded to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center.
