Please Support Two Salvation Army Events Coming Soon

The Salisbury Corps of The Salvation Army will be participating in two special events over the next two weeks. We encourage everyone to come out and support these important activities that will benefit our youth.

The first will be a fundraiser on Saturday, August 15th, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sonic, America's Drive-In in Fruitland. Ten percent of proceeds from food sales during that time period will benefit The Salvation Army football teams. Funds raised will go toward new football uniforms and equipment.

Please bring your family and enjoy Sonic's great food while kids can meet Sonic character, Cherry Limeade, and enjoy playing in the Moon Bounce.

On Thursday, August 20th and Friday, August 21st, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., volunteers and staff from the Salisbury Corps will be at the Pocomoke, Berlin, Salisbury and Fruitland WalMarts to accept donations of school supplies as part of WBOC's Bless Our Children, "Stuff the Bus" campaign. Thursday, WBOC will be airing LIVE reports from the Pocomoke WalMart on the 5, 6, and 7 o'clock news.

As members of the community visit WalMart, they will have the opportunity to receive a list of school supplies and back-to-school clothing that are being collected for our children most in need.

Needed items include:

- Crayons (small or large boxes)
- One subject spiral notebooks
- Three subject spiral notebooks
- #2 pencils
- Glue Sticks
- Colored Pencils
- Plastic pocket folders - pockets on each side
- Hand sanitizers
- Zipper pouch for pencils with eraser and pencil sharpener
- Black & white marbled composition notebook
- Book bag large enough to hold a 9 x 12 folder.
- Jeans - from size 5T up to adult sizes (for older kids)
- Sneakers - toddler size 13, all youth sizes
- Windbreakers or rain jackets - from size 5T up

The Salvation Army will be working with the school systems to identify the neediest children who lack resources to begin the school year with the necessary supplies and a new set of clothes.

We invite and encourage the community to drop off their donated supplies on the dates and times outlined above. These will be the only opportunities to do so.

For questions or additional information, please call The Salvation Army at 410-749-7771.

Thank you for your continuing support of our mission.

God Bless You!
