Can we get everybody’s eyes pointed toward this before Congress goes into session? It is such a refreshingly sensible new start in drafting a health insurance reform bill! (IMHO)
It does 5 things:
1) Gives a tax credit for someone buying a basic plan to $5,000/ year (464/month family)
2) Addresses TORT reform, and limits rewards, litigation time, and provides to fix mistakes.
3) Provides for free trade across state lines for both providers and customers.
4) All “commissioners” or decision boards must be made up of physicians who practice the field they are making decisions in!
5) Stops dependence on TARP funds.
It’s a breath of fresh air to start with, and only 82 pages long!
Remember, the Ten Commandments are 1 sentence each, and have guided mankind well for centuries.
We have already decided to throw the 3200 bill in the trash, and will be chided for not suggesting a positive alternative in an effort from Obama to keep pushing garbage through.

OMG the Demonrats are already exploiting Kennedy's death by proposing the Kennedy Memorial Health Bill in his honor--he's not even cold in the grave and they want to use his legacy to get their America killing health care bill rammed through. Unbelievable.
I agree it's at least a starting off point. I especially agree with tort reform. I'm concerned with point 1, though. Around here, $464.00 is still a lot of money to pay for a lot of families. Yes, you'd see a return on it at tax time, and could presumably use that money to pay ahead, but the economy sucks, and many people plan to use tax money for other necessities- home improvements, car repairs, etc. I don't fall into this category- I'm incredibly blessed to have a decent paying job that provides fantastic benefits at a good price, but I know people who struggle financially. Healthcare would remain out of reach for them, and become more expensive for the rest of us.
I also don't like point 4- but there's really no way around it. Insurance is business. Yes, there are lots of good, honest, ethical doctors out there- I just don't like the idea that a group of people sit around and agree on what services should be covered. It happens now, I just don't like it.
Point 1 is "up to" $5,000/year. There are cheaper policies out there for sale now, and if TORT laws are worked on there may be more to shop for. You can also buy a more expensive policy for a bigger deductible and still get the tax break.
Good job conservs. See how good ideas can start to formulate when you tell the "'granny killer' screamers" to be quiet for a second.

86 bucks to go to my family doctor just to get my back checked out for any out of linement. I waiting in the waiting room longer than I was seeing the doc. 41 minutes in the wainting room ans 12 minutes getting my back checked out. Physically touched me 3 times and listened to my heart and breathing. Thats it. Now, if you pay at the end of the visit, its half. If you cant pay, they send you a bill of the total amount. $172 for 12 minutes. I basically paid to wait in the room. Health care is at its best.
I feel you 10:25. While we are at it, can somebody tell me why if I set an appointment at time "X", the time at which the doc says he is available, and I arrive 15 min. early as suggested by the doc, do I now have to wait 30min.-1 hr. to be seen?!

10:25 and 10:38-the point is that you saw a doctor, go to another doctor if you unsatisfied with the service or complain directly to him. I hate waiting, I think my time is valuable as well but this is about the gov't takeover of our entire healthcare industry and wait til you get in line for their doctors, eventually you will not be able to choose who you see.
4:15 sort of like how I can choose who I see now. Oh thats right, I can only see the doc who is in the network.
7:18pm-Yes you can,right now you can see whatever doctor you choose. Your insurance may not cover all his costs and you may have out of pocket costs or be reimbursed but you CAN see whatever doctor you want.
