Obama's Plan to Desecrate 9/11

By Matthew Vadum

The Obama White House is behind a cynical, coldly calculated political effort to erase the meaning of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks from the American psyche and convert Sept. 11 into a day of leftist celebration and statist idolatry.

This effort to reshape the American psyche has nothing to do with healing the nation and everything to do with easing the nation along in the ongoing radical transformation of America that President Obama promised during last year's election campaign. The president signed into law a measure in April that designated Sept. 11 as a National Day of Service, but it's not likely many lawmakers thought this meant that day was going to be turned into a celebration of ethanol, carbon emission controls, and radical community organizing.

The administration's plans were outlined in an Aug. 11 White House-sponsored teleconference call run by Obama ally Lennox Yearwood, president of the Hip Hop Caucus, and Liv Havstad, the group's senior vice president of strategic partnerships and programs.

Yearwood, who uses the honorific "Reverend" before his name, has been in the news in recent years, usually for getting arrested. After Democrats took back Congress, the rowdy activist was handcuffed outside a congressional hearing in September 2007 when Gen. David Petraeus was to testify. Yearwood told the "Democracy Now" radio program that he wanted to attend the hearing to hear Petraeus give his report. "I knew that when officers lie, soldiers die," he said.

On the Aug. 11 call, Yearwood and other leaders kept saying repeatedly that they wanted 9/11 to be used for something "positive," "forward-leaning," and "productive," said a source with knowledge of the teleconference.

The plan is to turn a "day of fear" that helps Republicans into a day of activism called the National Day of Service that helps the left. In other words, nihilistic liberals are planning to drain 9/11 of all meaning.

"They think it needs to be taken back from the right," said the source. "They're taking that day and they're breaking it because it gives Republicans an advantage. To them, that day is a fearful day."

A coalition including the unsavory left-wing pressure group Color of Change and about 60 far-left, environmentalist, labor, and corporate shakedown groups participated in the call. Groups on the call included: ACORN, AFL-CIO, Apollo Alliance, Community Action Partnership, Deep South Center for Environmental Justice, 80 Million Strong for Young American Jobs, Friends of the Earth, Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, Mobilize.org, National Black Police Association, National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, National Council of Negro Women, National Wildlife Federation, RainbowPUSH Coalition, Urban League, and Young Democrats of America.

Color of Change is the extremist racial grievance group that isn't happy that TV's Glenn Beck did several news packages on Van Jones, the self-described "communist" and "rowdy black nationalist" who became the president's green jobs czar after jumping on the environmentalist bandwagon. The White House may be behind a push to destroy Beck by convincing advertisers to stop buying time on his show. Jones was also on the board of the Apollo Alliance, a hard-left environmentalist group that is now running large chunks of the Obama administration. The group has acknowledged that it dictated parts of the February stimulus bill to Congress.

With the help of the Obama administration, the coalition is launching a public relations campaign under the radar of the mainstream media -- which remains almost uniformly terrified of criticizing the nation's first black president -- to try to change 9/11 from a day of reflection and remembrance to a day of activism, food banks, and community gardens.

You people who share this posters view are ridiculous. Maybe you should stop listening to the extremist views on the far right talk radio shows. Those shows are for entertainment purposes and inflate the more rational views of the right. Most independents I know have no respect for people who spout the views of these right wing extremists. They are destroying your party.

The Republicans had their very own day devoted to making people piss their pants in fear over a phantom menace. Now those pesky Democrats are trying to turn it into a day where Americans help other Americans. That there is downright un-American!!

LadyLiddy, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah.

If that's what you think, then why do you care so much as to send in such a suggestive response.

Why not let those far right individuals sink in their own quick sand.

Because you're running scared, that's why.

Joe, I am far from scared of the right wing extremists. I'm just sad that they are too stupid to help themselves. They've destroyed a political party that I one time I could respect. Once the republican's sold their souls for votes, I threw in the towel on all of them.

This is a bunch of crap.

Wow--how horrible! the President thinks we should take a day of tragedy, a day where all Americans united, to help our neighbors. We should just commemorate it with hate, or perhaps bomb a country that had nothing to do with it.

You folks who are against this have truly lost your minds.

Joe, people like Lady Liddy chime in because if left unchecked, the opinions of the extremists on the right (and left) threaten the sanity, prosperity, and safety of the nation. We need people from both sides to speak up against you who choose to spout hate and fear.

Go lady liddy!

It disturbs me because some of the groups involved are militant non-white groups.....You know a proper observance of such an infamous day would include Veterans groups, firefighters organizations and patriotic causes-not radical socialistic causes like ACORN.
God help us all we have another 3.5 yrs of this feel good,do good and pass out free stuff liberal junk.

Obama and the liberal groups could have picked any other day, but they chose this day and it does nothing to remind us of the threats our country faces, the pain we all felt that day whether or not we were directly involved with someone who died or had to clean up. I will always remember that day because my brother, a Marine, was supposed to be at the Pentagon and instead had volunteered to coach at the rifle range just the Friday before when the assigned officer had an emergency and the fear my whole family faced, not knowing if he was ok. This is disgusting. This is what Obama does divide us, because divided we fall-United we stand. LadyLiddy's liberal agenda is just one reason she can say she is the voice of reason, while anyone who opposes her views or shows passion for a cause she doesn't agree with is an extremist. What is your cause Lady LIddy? We may be able to stereotype you as an extremist.

Why the hell is calling for a day of service to our fellow Americans disgusting?

LadyLIddy, reread-it does nothing to remind us of the threats our country faces or the pain we felt that day. He thinks community organizing and rallies for whatever the cause of the liberal left at the time are more important. A "Day of Service"-what does that mean? One answer, it means nothing. Another angle, Service professionals and in that industry may take the meaning as job related, sort of like Labor Day, which is also sort of a day of service. Food Banks and other community groups will take it to mean a day of fundraising or recognizing the service of volunteers. Are you getting the drift? It doesn't having anything to do with burning buildings or the attack on our nation as it should, if we are to make this day something like Pearl Harbor Day-Dec 7th, 1941, the day of infamy. Let's face it, Sept 9th, 1991 is another day of infamy that we should never forget. It should not be shoved under the liberal agenda rug of celebrating nothing special or average don't hurt anyone's feelings no exclusions day.

4:12, the people trying to divide us are the pricks who post assinine post such as this as well as send defamatory emails with the only intent of smearing the president. All this because you could not convince a majority of americans that you belonged on the right side of the issues. It's call democracy, live with it. Or maybe you're the one that doesn't like democracy. Get a clue; a majority of Americans want to hear factual debate, not fearmongering and hyperbole, which is why Repubs. have lost in the last 2 election cycles. Whats sad is that Dems. DO NOT have all the right ideas. You guys are too blinded by idealogy to see that when we resort to simple mudslinging and slandering, it is the American people (you and me) and our children who lose, not just folks on the other side of the aisle.

Joe, we know you are a wannabe Rush Limbaugh. I applaud you for trying.

By the way, I am not a liberal! I am a registered Republican who is disgusted and embarassed by her party!

You are all wrong. It is not a republican or a democrat thing. It isn't even an Obama thing. He is just the front man. It is an agenda, a machine put in motion for one reason. To destroy our country as we know it and start from scratch to create a totally government controlled society. Whether you call it socialism or communism. It is still total government control. So wake up Americans and let's take our country back. This Obama administration bullsh-t has gone on long enough. Let us have our Land of the Free and Home of the Brave back.

7:33pm I agree, and to LadyLIddy, your "Registered REpublican" response was disingenous at best, earlier you posted-quote
"Once the republican's sold their souls for votes, I threw in the towel on all of them." You may not have officially changed your affiliation, but you are not a Republican.
BTW-I've never been a Republican.
