As Comments Continue To Grow, So Does Salisbury News

Just to give you an idea of how things have been this week so far, comments went as follows.

Monday, 396
Tuesday, 327
Wednesday, 478
Thursday, 507

However, the visits here to Salisbury News have blown through the roof and have more than doubled from our regular daily visits.

This past week we have been on CBS, NBC, ABC, The Washington Post, the Seattle Times and Lord knows how many Blogs we were featured on throughout the Country, it was a lot. I did receive a call from the New York Times yesterday but I don't know as of yet if they've run anything.

So we thank you for visiting, commenting and the coolest part about these numbers is the fact that people are not only returning, they're telling a friend who's telling a friend and so forth and it just continues to grow day by day.

Together we can make a difference and together we can ALL be heard. I'll say this one last time. I am confident at this point that there's absolutely no question that Salisbury News is reaching, (by visitors) far more people than the local MSM, hands down now, no question about it.

Whod'a Thunk It!

Joe, I had no idea how well read Salisbury News was until the other day. I know I have heard you say it's big but when a group of us got together we were discussing Dr Alvarado and everyone started to say, have you seen Joe Albero's blog? These are people I had no idea used the internet let alone visit Salisbury News. I was impressed.

Joe, I check SBYNEWS at least 4 times a day. FoxNEWS only once or twice... I know where to get the news! And when I get a nugget I think is worthy, I send it to you knowing it will get out there. SO, here's a big A T T A B O Y!!!

anonymous 11:09, you know, a while ago I might have agreed with you. However, in a recent finding, Salisbury News has moved down the Google Ratings Charts, (higher is worse) substantially and we're actually very close in the running with the major MSM players at this point. Yes, you heard me right. With this weeks numbers so far, I wonder where we'll be placed in the next month or so.

I'm not kidding when I tell you we are now blowing away at least the local MSM and they know it too.

That being said, I don't want Salisbury News being some megga recognized national Blog. I want more local visitors, not national. I don't want to fill my advertisers with BS numbers like the MSM does because someone Googled a word. They claim that's great for marketing and sales purposes but I don't care about that. What I care about is local news and information and a place people can go to knowing we'll be the first to provide them with the truth.

So blast me all you want, it doesn't matter to me. We have taken control of the local market hands down. To give you an idea of our numbers, we're rated around 300,000 while all of the other local Blogs are rated over 2,800,000 to almost 3,000,000. Remember, lower is better, meaning Google is #1. The 3,000,000 Blog gets around 84 hits per day. In fact, here's the funniest part. The City of Salisbury Website has a better rating than ALL of those other Blogs and quite frankly that's hilarious! Michael was rated last with Cents neck and neck with a very close second place. That Blog doesn't get diddley for hits. JT was just slightly above Cents. Either way though, they're only getting about 100 hits a day and if they claim they're getting ore they're lying.

Nevertheless, they are so far out of the league that they'll never catch up. Why do you think they keep copying our format! They're wanna be Joe Albero's or Salisbury News. Little boys playing in a man's world.

hey joe you might want to ask businessweek if you can post or link to there story "The Health Insurers have already won ".

Ok, so there are just over 120,000 people in the Salisbury MSA--not to mention the other local markets nearby such as Berlin/Ocean City, Dover, Cambridge, & Easton (probably a number over 200,000 all included). Do you honestly believe that your 3,500 visitors per day (which was a number you recently quoted) reaches more than what WBOC, WMDT, and the Daily Times do on a daily basis? Please...

anonymous 11:32, I don't know where you get the idea Salisbury News ONLY gets 3,500 hits per day because that's NUTS! We get that before 6:00 AM every single day of the week and believe me, it goes nuts from there!

Oh yeah, you better believe we far out rock the local MSM! The numbers are out there, just go look them up.

Nice try, putting words in my mouth.

Sorry, i quoted wrong...you're quote said "...3,500 visitors right now..." and that was in regards to the Dr. Alvardo story on 8/5. But still i have a VERY hard time believing that you're reaching more people than what the MSM does--think about it: you have 200,000+ people in the market that WBOC, WMDT, & The Daily Times reaches.

Hmmm...look it up, ok, here goes: a quick google search revealed this site: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo - here i do a quick search for wboc.com, wmdt.com, delmarvanow.com and sbynews.blogspot.com.

WBOC: Traffic Rank: 88,961
WMDT: Traffic Rank: 466,670
DT: Traffic Rank: 80,650
SBYNews: Traffic Rank: 327,757

Admitedly, the 327,757 rank is right around the number you just claimed...and higher than the WMDT site...but does not even compare with WBOC or the DT.

That's just INTERNET traffic...now when you factor in TV viewership, your site, while it is reaching a lot, is NOT reaching more than the MSM, so your claim is false.

anonymous 11:55, Thank You for sharing that information.

However, allow me to explain the numbers a little better for you. To go by numbers at one time or at any given moment isn't accurate.

You see, Salisbury News has grown tremendously in the past few months alone. Actually, easily double, close to tripple. That being said, try using a quarterly number from this point forward.

I think you'll see a BIG difference, hence my being confident we're currently blowing them away.

NOW, that being said, we're NOT connected with Gannett, ABC, CBS, NBC and so forth, so you have to admit, considering this has all been word of mouth our numbers, (even what you have shown) is impressive, would you agree?

I happen to know what has happened traffic wise over the past couple of months and I know where we're headed. Yeah, it would be nice if we had millions of people connected with us to boost our numbers but like I said, I'm not looking to become National.

When I tell my Advertisers what we're doing on a daily basis, they're going to know we're reaching more people on a daily basis than ANY other local News Source, period. Fight it all you want, we have arrived in a very big way. Keep watching those numbers and you'll see what I mean.

Joe, I work in IT, so I know what the numbers mean, but thank you for your clarification anyway...

"NOW, that being said, we're NOT connected with Gannett, ABC, CBS, NBC and so forth, so you have to admit, considering this has all been word of mouth our numbers, (even what you have shown) is impressive, would you agree?"

Yes, I would absolutely agree. The numbers, based on word of mouth without any formal advertising, etc. are, indeed, very impressive.

But let's be clear, because you're not affiliated with any type of national network, you will be at a disadvantage and won't be able to reach as many people as the MSM does--that's not necessarily a bad thing, just stating a fact.

anonymous 12:57, again, thank you. Let me repeat, our numbers have more than doubled in the past few weeks. In fact, closer to tripple and they're increasing every single day, seriously. It would be one thing if we had a spike, (which we have had in the past) and the numbers went back to what they had been days before. However, people are coming here and returning.

IF, let me repeat, "IF" the Daily Times, (as an example) relied on local traffic, our numbers blow them away, no question about it. The very same goes for WBOC & WMDT. Just because they get traffic from outside the metro area means what to their advertisers? NOTHING!

While I could very easily play the tech game, (you know what I'm talking about) and link to other Websites and allow them to do the same with me, we too could easily create false numbers.

However, even though some of our Contributors are almost begging me to do so because they know we'd be below the 100,000 mark with Google, I do not want to mislead our future advertisers. I want the numbers to be as close to real as humanly possible. I run a good, honest and fair business. Always have, always will. We're not in this to get National Advertisers and fill the pages with BS ads that drive people nuts.

we want hard working local honest businesses on board with Salisbury News in which we know we can make a positive difference for them. We want to provide affordable advertising and deliver traffic like they've never seen before. Ask ANYONE we have ever run ads for in the past how well it worked for them and you'd be amazed at the results. So much so, we've been asked to take down ads becuase they were over booked, didn't have enough inventory to fill order, it's unreal.

We're climbing up the ladder so fast the rest of the MSM knows it, they see it and they know once we start advertising it will hurt their bottom line, advertising.

I have been kind enough over time to only offer FREE ads for people and we'll continue to help those non profit businesses. Salisbury News will remain FREE to all who want to view it. We've simply made a mark in an industry no one ever believed could be done by a one man show, so to speak.

Like I said, keep your eyes on our numbers in two or three months and watch where we place then. We were, (so you know) around 600,000 only two months ago, if that tells you anything. Not too shabby!
