Tawes Crab & Clam Bake "Politicin" Part I

Considering this is not an election year, I couldn't believe my own eyes seeing so many politicians in one place. Clearly many are worried about their seat, no matter where it is.

I had the distinct pleasure of spending some quality time with Mrs. Kratovil and their children, this is one fine Family. Frank is as fortunate as I am to have a very loving and supportive Wife and the children, that's a no brainer, they're adorable!
Frank couldn't be at the event because he was in Washington voting yesterday.

There were several new faces on the scene yesterday, many of which were announcing their candidacy for one position or another. I'll wait till later to fill everyone in on who's who but for now we'll see how long they last. We also want to get to know some of these people a little better before we expose their intent/platform.

I arrived early because I wanted to find parking, in which I did. It was pretty funny to see people parking on public streets and property owners demanding $10.00 per vehicle, especially outside section 8 housing!

One guy got out of his car and a woman came up to him and said, that will be $10.00. He replied, this is a public street. She said, my Mother lives in that townhouse over there, (the townhouse faced an interior parking lot) and then she pointed towards the back of their townhouse, (which backed to a public street) and she demanded the $10.00.

When I went in there was absolutely no line, unlike previous years. In years past the line seemed to be completely around the block to get in. They did say the event was smalled by about 1,500 people or so but better than they expected in this economy.

About mid way into the event you'd think it was just as busy as years past. The lines were forever long but moved pretty quickly. The biggest lines, (believe it or not) was the bathrooms.

I also had the pleasure of finally, (after many years) meeting Cathy Bassett, Greg Bassett's Wife. She is a very nice woman, (you don't deserve her Greg, just kidding) and it was truly a pleasure meeting her finally.

The AFP was in full force. Everyone was in a great mood and quite frankly I had a blast. More to come.........

The state of Maryland is in free fall and O'malley spends the day there -- OUTRAGEOUS!

Oh yeah? Why the outrage? That's a comment in need of explanation. I think it's good for the gov to be there with the people, to face them in person, have a back-and-forth with the voters. Opportunities such as this for constituents are very rare in these parts.

O'Malley FLEW in on his hellicopter.

Who paid for O'Malley's ticket? I'm sure we did. Not enough money for education, but he sure as hell could go to a crab feast and drink. I would like to know how many politicians were drinking and driving yesterday.

Did Joe Holloway pay for his ticket. I bet not comp of the county. I am sure they get a number of free tickets?? It just cracks me up how one will burn someone over buying gifts to boost moral, yet they will suck the tax tit dry.

LOL Joe that would be the projects that are along Broadway.....the residents(who probably only pay $20 a month in rent anyways) stand there and demand money from anyone who parks on the street in front of their unit. They do it every year and get really nasty if someone doesnt pay.Someone at Housing Authority needs to step up.

Where was Sheriff Lewis? Didn't see a photo of him.

The helicopter was a bunch of rich lawyers from Baltimore. OMalley was driven by the MSP in the black denali. I saw him pull up.

Looks like Pipkin has too much belly or too little shirt.

If you have been sleeping in a cave for the last three years, let bring you up to date. Sheriff Mike Lewis does not need to politic for his job. It is his as long as all the troops keep up the great work and he want to run.

Lewis was in training instead of eating crabs and chicken on the county dime.

I once heard a man say for Mike Lewis to lose his post he would have to get caught in the back seat of a car with a goat and the goat better be ugly as hell. If the goat is a nice looking goat, it would be all the goats fault.

You hear what I am saying.

Anon 156 I hear ya and I agree 110% it will take more than JT and his minions to unseat Mike Lewis. Besides, who are they going to put up against him that could win? I only know of one person that would give him a run for his money and he is quite busy with Maricopa County, Arizona.

Three stogies, Joe? Who did you share with? You should run a "caption this photo" on your pic with the Gov. The guy behind you looks like a jealous boyfriend.(Martin's) LMAO
Why no MSP DUI checkpoint on 413 after this event? Classy drunks I guess.

From some of these pictures, the event should be renamed "Guts and Butts".

Iagree about lewis he has become very popular. It is time for a county wide police force. It would give the citizens what they want. The SPD officers would get the pay they deserve and the deputies would get a retirement and disability one can live on. It makes sense the recent robbery epidemic proves what combined forces can do. Knock on wood, they have stopped for now. The arrest by combine efforts played a major role in this outcome.

The duplication of public services is antiquated at best. The problem is the percieved relinguishment of power. that is not an issue at all have a appointed Police Commisioner and an elected Sheriff. It just makes sense and both sides win. The combined economics of this process alone far outweigh the cost and labor needed to get this done.

The implement of Sub stations would make a lot of townships very happy. I would imagine there is grants that would aid in this effort. the C.O.P.S. program would allow for at least 10-15 more officers in the county. The agency could also implement a street crimes unit to clean up prostitution and violent crimes that plague the area.

I feel this will have to happen in time. Why delay the inevitable. The people pay, the officers pay, in the long run I guess we all pay.

The the local leaders this is something that can be accomplished and would be a great legacy.

The county and city need to attract more industrial business and less retail. The area has few good jobs for family oriented people to come to the area. If we keeps getting transient business and community the local economy will suffer.

Hey Joe, It would be great if you could caption your pics with names...Just a thought. Keep up the good work!

With all the politicians in attendance at this event one would have to visit one of our correctional facilities to find such a large collection of similar people. I would never attend this event or anything like it. Being surrounded with all the fake and phoney politicians is to much of an annoyance.

Martin O'Malley. The Teflon Leprechaun. Unreal. He left Baltimore in shambles only to come in and ruin the entire state. Oh we paid for his ticket, his helicopter and his fun. Where's Erlich when we need him?
