I made a phone call to the Salisbury Police Department after getting a tip that they were about to go over 20,000 incidents already for 2009.
By the time I called I was informed the number was not accurate and I thought, I knew they couldn't have that many calls so far for the year. So I asked, do you start out at 001 each year. The Officer replied that they do. I said, so where do you stand right now. He replied, we're about to go over 22,000!!!!!
I don't care what anyone says, that's some serious numbers and we're only in June! All that being said, remember to roll down your window the next time you see an Officer and simply wave. They'll know you're saying hello and thank you and as you can clearly see they're more than busting their rear ends each and every day.

Does anyone know what the statistics were for last year at this time, just so we can compare the two.
I'm not sure about SPD but "Incidents" are as w/ other agencies something that anumber is generated for, not necessarily a crime. One would open a incident card for liek a patrol check or assist other agency or disabled motorist. Not always a crime. Like I said not all "incidents" are crime related, I dont't think.
SPD incident numbers goes like this. The first call or card opened up at 2400 hrs on Jan 1, 2009 reads (2009000001) Each incident where an officer is called to or opens up (2009000002, 200900003, 2009000004 and so on. In 2008, we had more than 44,000 cfs. Officers can call out for extra patrol check, that is an incident number. Out of the 22,000 incident numbers, maybe 200 are extra patrol checks and misc cards opened. Not all are crime related incidences. We are told to call out EVERYTHING to get our numbers up so we could pos get raises due to high numbers of incidences. That came directly from the Chief. A certine LT will write you up for not calling out business checks. We all know who that is. A self centered little man with no integrity.
