SALISBURY MAYOR TO HOST OPEN HOUSE

Salisbury Mayor James Ireton, Jr., will host a City of Salisbury Open House on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. It will be held on the third floor of the Government Office Building, 125 N. Division Street.

The Open House will provide Salisbury residents with an opportunity to learn more about City programs and services. Each of the City Departments will have displays and exhibits, freebies, and activities for kids. Staff from the departments will be available to talk to residents about current and future City projects, and distribute brochures on City programs and services.

The Salisbury Zoo will have a display with several small animals from the Zoo. The Salisbury Police Department will bring a special guest with them, McGruff the Crime Dog, to meet kids and talk to them about how to be safe.

In addition to City Departments, there will be displays by Poplar Hill Mansion and the Sister Cities Association of Salisbury/Wicomico County. Urban Salisbury’s Downtown Master Plan will be on display, too. Residents can also learn more about the All-America City Award program, in which Salisbury is a finalist this year.
Representatives from the Wicomico County Recreation & Parks Department, Mitchell’s Martial Arts, and Crown Sports Center will be at the event with information about summer programs for youth.

“This Open House will be a wonderful family event that is not only educational and informational, but a lot of fun,” said Mayor Ireton. “I encourage the public to attend to learn more about the City in which we live, work and play, and what your municipal government is doing to improve the City and the services it offers its citizens.”

For more information, contact the Mayor’s Office at 410-548-3100.

Mayor:

Please post a list of all the money spent on that "All-American City" escapade (whether or not we win the big prize).

After BPT, it's becoming "deja vu" with Jim constantly performing for the public.
