A federal judge in Baltimore has slapped a longtime environmental lawyer with a $10,000 sanction for filing frivolous appeals in an Anne Arundel County woman’s personal bankruptcy last year.

Anthony G. Gorski must pay the fine to Dashco Inc., a Virginia-based lender whose attorney sought the rare and severe punishment in Rhoda L. Van Leer’s case, Judge J. Frederick Motz ruled in U.S. District Court.

After U.S. Bankruptcy Judge James F. Schneider ruled in May 2008 that the waterfront home in which Van Leer and her husband, Blake, lived was not part of her bankruptcy estate, Gorski appealed to the U.S. District Court.

But he failed to file a brief with that appeal and it was dismissed. He appealed the dismissal, but also failed to file a brief with the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Finally, when Dashco moved for Rule 11 sanctions, he didn’t respond to that.

Wow! I give the Judge credit for doling out that penalty--lawyers are duty-bound to a very high level of performance, ethics, etc., and it looks like this Judge sent a message!

How is this lawyer performing for Hebron?

Wow! I think this is the first time in recorded history that a Lawyer is being sanctioned for unethical or incompetent behavior. The judge must have been having a hard day.
The only good lawyer, is a dead lawyer!

Lawyers use the law (point of a gun) to rob, fleece, and cheat people.
I don't know how lawyers can sleep at night knowing what awaits them at the end of their lives.
Try to explain to St. Peter why you could justify charging fee to file endless motions against your buddy lawyesr before a corrupt judge lawyer, that you will be golfing with on the weekend.
LAWYERS ARE SCUM!
