We were conceived in liberty as a Christian nation. To say anything else is to deny or rewrite history. However, our founding fathers ensured that those among us that subscribed to a secular viewpoint would forever be allowed to do so. When Jefferson wrote about the inseparable wall between church and state, he was saying that we must not be allowed to establish a state sponsored religion. HE was NOT saying that our public halls and institutions must be free from any and all religion. It is amusing to me to see how the left's current method of divide and conquer is the establishment of the religion of Global Warming, whoops, climate change, whoops, cap and trade.

President Obama used the wrong pronoun. He does not speak for me, as in "we." He speaks for himself.
The preambles do not say Jesus Christ or Allah.
The Constitution of the United States says "Creator."
We were conceived in liberty not as a Christian nation, but as one OF religious freedom.
Obama's statement supports that.
How one could twist that statement into a promotion of Godlessness is beyond me.

Obama does not speak for me either, nor will he ever speak for me. I always learned, fools names and fools faces always appear in public places.
9:12 You are absolutely correct. Not all of the Founding Fathers were Christians as we know them today. Many were of different sects of Christianity. Further more, the God of the Muslims, Jews, and Christians is the same God. The only difference is in the prophets and interpretations of that God.
The mention of God does not mean Christian. God is who God is to each individual.

Virginia is the only one with the word "Christian" in it. And then, it refers to "Christian Forbearance," which could be practiced by anyone.
Odd that the "Christian" reaction here does not seem to be one of forbearance.
Thanks, but I'll take the teachings of Jesus over yours. I do not believe he would have found the statement objectionable at all, but rather an a statement of forbearance!
The world is at peril and you people wallow in a hateful dissection of Obama's statement about the openness of our country. Unbelievable.
His statement is not contradicted by any of those preambles.
Joe- He said our 'nation' does not consider itself Christian. He didn't refer to the states.
How come you didn't cite the premable to the Constitution:
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Maybe because it doesn't refer to Christianity? So what's your point?
