It seems a valve broke off a 60,000 gallon Co2 holding tank and a large bang went off soon after. Sharp Water people were right across the street when it happened and when they heard the bang they all ducked for cover.
Fortunately no one was injured and there was around 23,000 gallons of compressed Co2 left in the tank when the valve broke. By the time I left they said there was around 7,000 gallons left to go before the tank was empty.
As far as any dangers were concerned, the only real danger from C02 would be if you were directly "in the white cloud." The C02 absorbs oxygen, so if you were in the middle of it you wouldn't be able to breathe, so I'm told by one Firefighter.
The Hazmat Truck was in fact struck by another vehicle on their way to the scene. Fortunately their presence wasn't absolutely necessary. Everyone has been accounted for.

Valves dont break by themselves.
That will be good for global warming. :(
Just pretend you are Bill Clinton and don't inhale!!
the hazmat struck got into an accident on the way there? thats pitiful. don't buy the HAZMAT boat for salisbury folks it will only be a MONEY SINK and a TOY for the "heroes" to crash and sink.
CO2 doesn't absorb oxygen. It displaces it. Basically, you end up breathing carbon dioxide because it moved the oxygen out of the way.
to anon 5:44 PM accidents happen. If you notice it says that the hazmat truck was struck by another vehicle, it did NOT Say that on the way to the call the hazmat truck struck another vehicle. It states that it was struck. This would mean to me that another vehicle at fault struck the hazmat truck. Secondly before you talk about fire apparatus being in accidents you should do some research on how many police cars get in accidents. I believe that you will find that the number of incidents involving police units far out wieght the number involving fire apparatus.
Why was Parsonsburg Spec Ops not involved. Arent they the county team?
i think that because they let out the CO2 that they should have to buy alot of carbon credits from al gore who will then split a 10% fig with Nancy Walker Lynn Pelosi and Harry Warbucks Reid, and then ice Joey B on the backside. Gore kills it with those carbon credits. I wish i could sell imaginary coupons and become a millionare
Parsonsburg doesnt have a spec ops team

Yes BOZO it was "struck" by another vehicle because it ran through the intersection and took the right away from the driver that struck it. Another thing to point out is that the vehicle was occupied by to "acting" Lieutenants and one was no other than Gordo Jr.
Mayor Ireton are you reading this? Wake up, it's time to clean house in the fire department.
"Acting" I didnt know we were dealing with movie stars now.
10:39 pm you are in the fire dept. aren't you? one can tell, because how else would you know who was on the hazmat. real cool to call out your brothers!!! further more it was an accident let it go it can happen to anyone. it could have been you behind the wheel. also cant see how you can get rid of volunteers???
Hey, no differant than the new Truck, been in 3 accidents so far, you hear me Joe?, 3 so far. you gotta love that! And, I agree, you guys always roll on your own, of course the facts still tell the truth.
