Location of Incident: Foreman Mills, 4609 North Market Street, Wilmington, Delaware, New Castle County
Date and Time of Occurrence: Saturday, May 9th, 2009, at approximately 6:00 p.m.
Suspect(s):
Jessica Fields, 20, of East 40th Street in Wilmington, Delaware
Unidentified 17-year-old female from Wilmington, Delaware
Resume: Saturday evening, Troopers were called to the Foreman Mills, just south of Penny Hill Troop 1, for the report of two disorderly shoplifters.
When officers arrived on the scene, they attempted to take the two suspects into custody- Jessica Fields and a 17-year-old girl. The two suspects refused to go quietly and resisted the Troopers. They began to yell and scream profanities in the store while they were being escorted out.
With the suspects detained, officers were able to ascertain what happened. Store employees advised the two females were observed concealing items in a bag they brought with them. When confronted, the suspects began to threaten the Foreman Mills staff while creating a scene in front of other customers.
A search of Ms. Fields revealed a switch blade she had concealed in her pants pocket. She complained of a pre-existing medical condition and requested medical care. She was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and upon her release; she will face the following charges: Shoplifting (misdemeanor), Terroristic Threatening (misdemeanor), Conspiracy 3rd (misdemeanor), Endangering the Welfare of a Child (misdemeanor), Resisting Arrest (misdemeanor), Disorderly Conduct (misdemeanor) and Unlawfully Dealing with a Switchblade (misdemeanor).
The 17-year-old was formally charged with Disorderly Conduct (misdemeanor), Resisting Arrest (misdemeanor), Shoplifting (misdemeanor) and Conspiracy 3rd (misdemeanor). A computer check revealed she was also wanted by Family Court on an outstanding capias. She was committed to the NCC Detention Center in lieu of a $5,000.00 cash bond and a $2,000.00 unsecured bond.
