Congressman Frank Kratovil Hosts Open House In Salisbury Office

Congressman Frank Kratovil welcomed a ton of dignitaries at his new Office in Downtown Salisbury Saturday. It was good to see Frank once again face to face. We shook hands and said polite hello's and I wished him well. I did mention to him that he looked like he could afford to gain a few pounds, he said he's pretty much the same weight as he usually is.
As mentioned in yesterday's article, the outgoing Mayor Barrie Tilghman stopped in for a brief moment to say hello and wished him well as well. New Mayor Jim Ireton got the chance to say hello as well after scrubbing all the dirt off his hands from cleaning up the Plaza. It was a nice meet and greet and even Worcester County's States Attorney Joel Todd popped in to say hello. I'll save that picture for later.

No way Lashley has that job. No matter how much sucking up some others do. I think you need a Masters Degree. Hmmmm. Someone better get back to school.

I think if either of them get it it would be a huge mistake. I hope the new mayor talks to his troops and not the good ole boy rank and file. They need a leader that motivates. Take a look at P/A Barracks stats. Irreton want production, not reduction.

As for I'll punch you in the eye and get away with Lashley. I hope he has his temper in check. Anyone else would have been arrested.

Jim look far and wide for someone wth "No dirt" that will motivate the troops and work with them. Keep in mind a Chief does not have to be former law enforcement.

John Moses would do a great job. Gary Baker would be a wise choice. Mark tyler should be on the "A" list as well as Elmer Davis.

Frank be careful about the company that you keep. I am a life long republican that voted for you.

Make Gary Baker the CHEIF, he has not skeletons what so ever and already has a great working relationship with Mike. Gary has been a cop for a long time and his disposition and mannerism are perfect for managing the troops.

Tyler and Davis? Are you smoking dope? Webster has no master's degree and Gary Baker isn't stupid.

11:02 are you sure about that.

Gary Baker would be awesome if he is willing to leave the great job he has.

Lets face it they do not need a former trooper. I love Mike Lewis he is doing a great job. We dont need barrack "E" 'EE" and "EEE" in one county.

Doug great point. They will all be under one roof soon enough.

Webster is not gone yet. So let us see what transpires. He may be staying. If he goes we do not need anyone who has not done the job. Oh sorry Mr. Kratovil your post is heading down another road. Congrats and welcome.

Now back to the issue at hand. There are those who did this job ( Law Enforcement ) and there are those that wore a uniform. We all know some that have led very privledged careers due to who they are and not what they have done. At the very least the men and women of the Salisbury P.D. seem to have lost faith in the current Chief. It is just my observation. If the new Mayor is to fix this issue it will take no less than a miracle. It can be done. I think there needs to be an open meeting with the mayor and all of the Salisbury P.D. There are some issues at hand that can probably be cleared up instantly.

The reason Mike Lewis has had sucess is because he is driven and has been on the front lines. This gave him instant street credibilty. That garners much weight with the troops. It is sad but those who spent their careers on the admin. side of the shop never get the support of the street cops. I would never hire an Internal Affairs guru unless you think you have a rogue department. Just food for thought.

I know the biggest problem with street cops is that they want consistecy and fairness from the brass. It breaks morale when this does not happen no matter who is running the show. It will begin to show in the stats and overall behavior of those out there taking the risk. It does not cost a dime to implement those values.

This will be one of the tasks the new mayor faces. I hope he takes his time and keeps in mind those on the street are those who have contacts with the voting public daily. An open door policy is critical for the troops and the public. To many times the brass will filter situations to avoid conflict. This allows issues to fester and creates problems that could have been easily solved.

The implementing of a council consting of rank and file, civilian employee, and public. Allow this council to have input. Let the rank and file elect those in house so that you get persons trusted by the troops. In no way would this undermind the Administration. I think the more heads invovled the better the outcome. It would give the rank and file a chance to be heard. lets face it some are the town criers and you will never satisfy them. There are those with legitimate concerns that never get heard.

I wish the new Mayor much luck and sucess. I have heard him speak and it appears this man is willing to do whatever is needed to fix the issues at hand.

Joe - Did you notice how 10:43 a.m. told Congressman Kratovil to be careful about the company he keeps? The arrogance of some of these "life-long Republicans!"

Gary Baker, Ernie Leatherbury, Ed Lashley wouldn't be stupid enough to take this position, the City Police Dept. is so screwed up Jesus Christ wouldn't be able to fix all the problems. I say let Tyler or Meinshein have it, they helped create the mess.

Tyler and meinshien have earned the right to be there.

As for the democrat that stated arrogance was to blame for the ealier comment on the company we keep. That was not it all it is a long way home. One should be aware of those that hang to close with an agenda. Kratovil was the best choice. I think he will serve us all well. Beware of the ides of April. LOL

You'd best be vigilant yourself, ll:04 p.m., a.k.a. 10:43 a.m. The ides of April passed you by 5 days ago.

Our congressman doesn't require your guidance on agendas, even if they happen to conflict with your own.

I agree with you that Kratovil was the best choice; however, this proud Repub voted for Gilchrest each time he ran. Touche!
