(Salisbury, MD) – A third suspect believed to have been involved in the murder of a Wicomico County man one month ago was arrested and charged today by State Police and the Wicomico County Bureau of Investigation.
The accused is identified as Alan R. Stanford, 38, of the 27000-block of Log Cabin Road, Salisbury, Md. He is charged with first degree murder, second degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and robbery. He is being held at the Wicomico County Detention Center.
Continuing the cooperative investigation between the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and the Wicomico County Bureau of Investigation, investigators had been attempting to locate and talk with Stanford. Police investigators picked him up at about 9:00 a.m. today at a residence in the 700-block of Ebeneezer Street, Salisbury.
Stanford was taken for questioning to the Wicomico County Bureau of Investigation office. Following further investigation and after consultation with the Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office, Stanford was charged with murder.
Stanford is one of three individuals now charged with the January 17, 2009 murder of Brookes E. Harmon, 27, of the 1200-block of Flamingo Drive, Salisbury, Md. Harmon was visiting in the 600-block of Dennis Street, Salisbury, early that morning when three men entered the home, then bound and assaulted him. An autopsy revealed Harmon died from asphyxiation.
On February 3, 2009, investigators served Wicomico County Grand Jury indictments on Carlos L. Mills, 28, and Shala N. Dorman, who are both from Salisbury and are both also charged with the murder of Harmon. Another male individual police were attempting to interview in connection with this investigation died in an apparent suicide on January 28, 2009.
Investigators from the State Police Homicide Unit and the Wicomico County Bureau of Investigation have been assisted throughout this investigation by police officers, deputies and troopers from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, Salisbury Police Department, Wicomico County Narcotics Task Force, and the State Police Salisbury Barracks. Continual assistance has also been provided by the Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office.

This is good police work. Hasnt been but about a month and all the killers are dead or locked up. Great job to all the officers for getting to the bottom of this. Its one step closer to a safer Salisbury.

No they wont, truth be told they will probably say in court they they did not have the "INTENT" to murder when they entered the residence. They will claim it was a scare tactic that went wrong and a deal will be cut. They will all most likely get a second degree murder charge and be gone for fifteen years. The state will get one to turn and he will be out sooner.
They need to go pick up Carlos brother Dante and grill him for a while. They might be surprised what they will learn.
I can't believe that someone would suggest that young Dante(Eater) may be involved!!! lol Do you really think that MSP Homicide Unit & WBI failed to eliminate "Eater" as a suspect???? No doubt he's committed numerous crimes in his time, just not this one!!
Great work !!! I see the the results of men and women committed to the calling of justice. I have a great deal of respect for those who do not make exscuses, but go out and fight the war.
As for the comment on the State's Attorneys Office providing continual assistance. Please I am sure they did their job. I dont get this high profile case crap. The worker bees did the job period.
I recently heard a rumor that criminal cases have to be run through the S/As office before one can charge. Wow who is protecting whom.
The police lock them up
S/A office will prosecute
The court will decide a judgement or a the jury.
Anyone know why this system is in place. To prevent Prosecutors from taking only juice cases to keep their stats up. It is not the job to win or lose, It is simply to seek justice. Period.
I have a real issue when the S/A Office starts being the police and Prosecutor.
We have seen the down side to this type of corruption in the past. If there is PC lock em up. It is not the job of local law enforcement to hand you a Ham sandwich. Use all that college for something other than a pretty shingle on you wall.
Maybe take a look at your staff and decide what political hires have taken place and are they effective. The good ole crap stinks. Clean it up. Sober up !
Thats whats wrong with the justice system... I hope they all get life..The murdered a man..reguardless if they were just trying to scare him or not.. I know someone in jail for 30 years because he rode by a house trying to "scare" people and shot at it..He did it because the people at the house party had just beat the crap out of a girl who was a good friend of his. Did he deserve to get time for it ..of course..30 years..def not. now his daughter will be 32 before he gets out. If they are going to give this guy 30 years when he didnt even injure anyone than they should at least give these guys 60 or more years behind bars
Another city crime solved by an outside agency. Abolish SPD and bring in a county wide police force and forget a tax differential.
It doesn't really matter what time is given in this case because criminals usually only have to serve half of their time by the time good behavior bonuses kick in. A 30 year sentence will only give someone about 15 years unless it is stated "without parole".
