"The Monkey Barrel is Locked up with a Dumpster in Front, I heard they were behind 3 months in Rent, and they had a mess of Lawsuits pending for Bouncers that think it is OK to beat the heck out of people to straighten them out.
I was wondering if you or the readers have any updates on this establishment?

I have not heard anything about this establishment other than to see them frequently in Press Releases. Dow anyone else out there know anything more about them?

Hahaha.... They tore out the old bar and replaced it with a new bar... it looks great you should stop in and see it... I would know I built it.
this is why I hate Salisbury... rumors come out of nowhere.
I liked it when it was a bar and laundromat.
They are renovating the bar.
well maybe they sould move down to cactus club and shut that down next every friday night there is something out there fight after fight that is so bad the police have shut it down last weekend soemone set off 3 rounds of fire out in the parking lot then cops called and shut down again rumor also has it under age ppl have been entering the bar with fake id's and the ppl at door only have their eyes to go on because the owner of the club refuses to get the id scanner and metal detectors.I can say they have a great group of bouncers there who get them fights out the bar fast adn the two chicks who work the door are awesome too they take no shit from nobody and if they don't like what you say nor if you have a mouth they won't let you in ...But come on someone needs to close this place down also to much trouble out there.

Some one wants to know about The Monkey and what is happening and all you want to do is talk about the Cactus Club. If you want to talk about Bars I think that Brew River is a place that need to be shut down!!! At least figure out what they want to be a BAR or a RESTAURANT. I went there in November for a friends birthday Had a GREAT DINNER! but when I went out side they have a fire pit, ya I can see that it keeps you warm, but people are not only drinking around this pit they are standing on top of it dancing. DRINKING!DANCING ON A FIRE PIT! ='s BAD NEW! I did stay for awhile that night and I just watched what people did around it and I also wanted to see if anyone (STAFF) was watching this FIRE PIT I didn't notice. I almost wanted to say something to a few people but I just watched. Does anyone know if someone has gotten hurt
They've been renovating the whole bar for the last half yr/year or so.
Right now they are improving the main bar.

I used to get into the Cactus Club all the time with a fake ID that didn't look like me at all. I was never turned down, ever. When I turned 21, I never went back...that place is trash. Same goes for the Monkey...it just has drunk NJ & NY girls instead of local ones.
ALL bars have problems and bouncers get a bad rap for what is an essential job in a public drinking establishment.Ever been around a person who had too much to drink and became obnoxious and combative? Now imagine a clubfull of them.
And when did this post become "bash Cactus Club"?????
Cactus is garbage compared to all the other bars in Salisbury.
When any place has people getting obnoxious and the establishment allows it to go on, I pay my tab and give them a penny tip and tell them why.
i dont think giving the bartender a worthless penny tip is a very clasy way to make your point about an establisments management. remember bartenders make 3$ an hour and most of them are paying for school. Maybe next time you should ask to speak to a manager or owner.
When I drive by in the morning, the doors are wide open like there is work going on inside, not "locked up tight" like someone else mentioned.
I would give the bartender a $100.00 and say treat us right brother when I walked in. Walkin out was the hard part.
the new bar looks awesome. i was in there on Saturday and they had a great crowd esp. for the winter. I can't wait for this semester to start back again, the monkey barrel will be the place to be.
The doors might have been closed bc they have limited winter hours like they have done for the past five years. and the dumpster is out front because they have just finished putting a brand new awesome bar. Looks great. FYI speaking of closing establishments, the Bottle Factory is closing its doors for good they say.
