Lower Shore schools take advantage of inauguration's learning opportunities

Buzz up! Many schools on the Lower Shore have planned special instructional activities for students so they can participate in the historic Presidential Inauguration on Tuesday.
Wicomico County Superintendent John Fredericksen said some parents have requested school be canceled that day so their children could see the event in person. But school officials said they have better idea.
"We determined that the best seats in the house are right here in school," Fredericksen said.
"some parents have requested school be canceled that day" is what the Superintendent missed. Some people have selective hearing. Hey, I know, maybe it's me? Maybe I'm the one with selective hearing, right? I mean, we've only had about a thousand comments referencing this subject, hence the Daily Times doing yet another follow up article from yesterday. This is just too comical.

How wonderful would it be if it just snowed all night and all the schools were canceled tomorrow and everyone could just do what they wanted to do!!
The County says its still missing money according to the audit. Is the audit correct. What assumptions were used tally the missing fuel? How much money will or did they receive from insurance?How much money are they saving in the salaries of the department head,landfill super., the landfill foreman & the landfill operator. Was all that considered in the audit. Is the audit public info.

I think the bigger problem for schools is the violence, verbal abuse, and discipline problems in Wicomico County Schools. The teacher's union newsletter that recently came out detailed the frustration of of the union and teachers with the administration. A few schools are out of control and the public needs to be made aware of what is going on in the schools. One example was a pregnant teacher who was assaulted by a five year old student. The student later returned with candy from the administration. In middle and high schools teachers are subjected to cursing, sexual harrasment, and constant fights. Nothing will be done by the BOE until the public gets involved. So, I'm asking if you and the other bloggers will uncover the truth of the state of our schools.

One of the main reasons SBYnews.com is blocked from the BOE is because I DO expose what's going on.
Maybe this is your first time visiting, I don't know but one thing I can sure as heck tell you, you're NOT going to read about it in the Daily Times. SOME of us know exactly why too. Follow those people who are married and the names should trace you right back to the Daily Times. How convenient.
Taxpayers need to visit the schools often. Just sign in at the front office, get a visitor's pass or badge and go observe the lack of respect and total lack of work going on in the classrooms. Students expect rewards for showing up and working five minutes an hour. In middle and high schools, teachers and staff are subjected to outrageous behavior, but no one is suspended out of school because that makes NCLB data bad. You'll see kids eating and sleeping in classes, talking and yelling while teachers are trying to teach them something. Since most kids don't intend to work after twelfth grade, why work before it?

I got to admit as a teacher I am def. "ON ALERT" tomorrow, especially in JMB. aA teachers we are hoping all will be well but as a group we are prepared for the worst. It is a good ideal to put them all together in one spot then we can have a little crowd controll.
