Another Letter To The Editor

"Joe:

I know this is not the post but I know you will want to know about this:Mnany Teachers are upset about what is comming down on the 20th we are as pissed as anyone believe me. But as teachers if we say ANYTHING against this we know what will happen to us. Margo Handy is a angry black woman who looks for reasons to hassle white teachers, I speak from experience here, not hearsay. I have seen no flat screens or special cable but we are encouraged to make this a day long event some lazy ones are making it into two days! We have exams comming up HSA'a are being thrust down our throats and don't be fooled by bridges it is a joke. So to all of your loyal readers there are a few TEACHERS who are just consumed by this event, but the majority are pissed off but will follow orders so as not to be harrassed by Margo herself. As a teacher I am pissed off, and burned out by the fights, the gangs and this! When will the Super, make a change when will he give us a safe place to work, when will he make our schools a place of learning again. Tom Field did a excellent job especially with the mess Dr. Charlene Cooper Boston PHD left him. But what have we got now? Unimpressed. "

Get over it. You sound like an "Angry White Woman".

Wow. A teacher wrote this? No wonder our kids aren't receiving a good education. This reads like it was written by a half-illiterate sixth-grader. I'd hope our teachers at least had a handle on basic grammar, syntax, and spelling. I guess that's too much to ask for, huh?

Anonymous said...

While I strongly agree with the teacher, I think she could have made a better point by using a more professional language that hopefully she uses in the classroom.

This was written by a teacher? Our kids have bigger problems than having to watch Obama be sworn in.

Anonymous said...

Joe, does this have anything to do with you being banned from the BOE?

Anonymous said...

Could anyone reading this post confirm whether or not that Margo Handy was once a teacher at East Salisbury Elementary?

Margo Handy = Affirmative Action. She is as worthless as Mr. Brown was. Neither had a right to hold the positions they did/do! Once again jamming liberal beliefs down our children's throats. bias bias bias

You can find some basic information about her career here:

Two societys here, the powers that be could not care less about public schools, they are baby sitting shelters to them. The powers that be dont have kids in public schools. Two societys here, Its just like court. The people who have money have rights and the people dont have money are left at the mercy of the system.

My, we have more liberals than I thought, ones that have only voted this election and have had no intentions of ever voting before, were you taken to the elections by the Obama short bus, and dropped back off to your home? You don't deserve the right to vote as Margo doesn't deserve the right to hold a position that hinders the proper education of our children. I have never seen people so head over heels for someone that has no records of education, we don't know his birthdate, where did he come from and who in the hell pushed him through schooling and the political arena. He was in office long enough to start running for Presidential office and has zero experience so lets get all fired up, dress our kids to the hilt have ceremonies in school for a "great speaker". This is the first election where being a great speaker won. This country has voted for someome who can speak well (I have to give him that), and not someone who has any legitimate experience. Boy are we in trouble. Don't worry about the grammer of the post and who wrote it, worry about the lack of experience that will mis guide our nation, to me thats more important. Margo Handy has been on the Obama short bus way too long, get her out of the school system and put her working in the mall making dress codes, maybe she can get the kids to pull thier pants up and keep thier hands out of thier pants in public. That would suit her well! Not education!

Margo Handy was the Principal of Pemberton Elementary School. That is and has been the worst elementary school in Wicomico County. Once again promote incompetence to get rid of them to a position that can't cause anymore damage. PATHETIC

There is this saying and it seems to be very Providential in this county.....screw up and you move up. A position will be created for you to fill until you can retire.

Anonymous said...

Why not let any child whose parents do not approve of this... stay home, without being punished, and those that want their children there send them! The other solution may be to segregate the schools again.....may be better in alot of respects.

So let me see if I understand this alleged “teacher” with this letter to the editor. They are now saying they are against the “Electoral Process” where the country held an election, his or her candidate lost, and now they are not willing to accept the results? Or is it they simply cannot see the significance of this Inauguration of this President? This is an event that will be written into the history books. It is an event as big as a man on the moon, the first space walk, the shuttle explosion, and many more events through time. It would be a gross injustice and a lack of responsibility to not incorporate this Inauguration in the classroom today. Anyone who can’t see that, must be going through life with blinders on. Whether you voted for Obama or not, you must realize what a significant historic event this will be and accept, better yet, embrace the incorporation into the classroom. Why mandate it? Because there are still people in this world and our school systems that don't see the importance or this because of their narrow minded views.

Can you even imagine what the high schools are going to be like on the 20th? Obama supporters are already loud and unruly in the schools so I can only imagine what kind of turmoil will happen that day.

If the teachers do try to punish them for unruly behavior I'm sure Margo Handy will be right there reprimanding the teachers instead!!

Yep, affirmative action is sure moving us in the right direction...NOT!!

Incorporation into the classromm, now thats scary

10:18 You remark that we have elected someone with no experience. The ones with experience got us into this mess.
We finally have someone that is not tainted by years of the corrupt process.
He is not owned by the corporations or owe favors for past votes.

This is why my child goes to a private school, and shall never step foot in a public school.

I can't speak for Margo Handy's performance in her new position at the BOE, but I had her for a principal at Prince Street Elementary School when she first moved to Wicomico County. I think people are being way too harsh on her in these comments.
She was a great principal, very concerned about the well-being of her students, and was definitely not racist towards white students and teachers.
When I was in elementary school, I was a gifted, but extremely underprivileged student. Mrs. Handy was always great towards me. I remember countless times when she saw me walking down the hallway (her door was almost always open) and she invited me in to see how I was doing and offer me any support she could give me. I have a family member who now works for the BOE, and to this day, over 10 years later, whenever Mrs. Handy sees this family member, she still asks how my sisters and I are doing.
Mrs. Handy came to Prince Street when I was in the 4th grade, and I noticed a great improvement in the school from the time she started until I moved to middle school. I feel that she was a great educator and that commenters on this blog should find out the whole story before they bash someone's character.

12:16 Hello! Do you not know anything about Chicago Politics? You know, the Illinois political system that has been controlled completely by Democrats forever? The corrupt political machine that spawned Dailey,Blago and Obama? Do you not know any of the history of Obama's rise to power, like Alice Palmer, William Ayers, Tony Rezko, ? Just like every other Obama supporter you ignored the truth.

Wow, that letter was scary! Sure, syntax on a blog is not THAT important..but hopefully she is a math teacher. I am glad that the teachers are finally speaking out!

To Doug Wilkerson,

I'mm not a wealthy man but I still send my kids to private school. I wonder where you stand on vouchers and have you supported those candidates that were for them?

Furthermore, I'm sorry if your kids attend one of the Wicomico Liberal/Secular Indoctrination Centers but again, I might suggest that your or parents that feel like you do should look in the mirror and question their priorities if you/they DON'T home school or private school their children.

If you/they are happy with the status quo then don't complain, or if you ARE unhappy, why don't you come off the buck and SPEND some of your TIME and attend this upcoming BOE meeting and say enough is enough.

This is a woman who even is a teacher has a right to voice her opinon. Using the word pissed is not as bad as the words your wonderful children use at the teachers. Give the teachers control and let them TEACH. Yes Handy is a pejudice person and has been one sided in her dealings with the teachers.
Yes the inaugural is a historic moment. It should be watched for the special moment of swearing in not for the entire day. Certainly not 2 days.

1:46 Im from Delaware, so attending a wico boe meeting isnt my job or my place. We moved to Delamr De 13 years ago just because of the public schools here. We felt they were safer. I dont support any candidates, I think their all crap. I dont care if their white, black, yellow or red all politicians are crap. My older kids did attend a so called private christian school for awhile until I reconized that game, I do believe that there are two societys going forward from here and that has nothing to do with a free country. Question, The private school your kids attend are they going full into this thing like the public schools are?

One more thing 1:46 if you want to go into the mirror with me, you get your boots on.

PLEASE READ PARENTS

My child who goes to Pittsville Elementary & Middle School just came home with an interesting study sheet they were tested on the past two days. It goes into detail about this 'historical event' (their words) of BHO being the first black President, how noteworthy it was that a black man is being sworn in the day after King's birthday, how significant it is that it will include the Lincoln Memorial and how the theme will be 'A New Birth of Freedom'!

Yes, they've studied and been tested on this twice ALREADY this week. This should give everyone a hint of what awaits the kids in school next Tuesday!

Jehovah's Witnesses(sp?) have an excused absence from school that day b/c they do not recognize any form of government. Teachers were told to keep it quiet. I know a lot of teachers are taking a sick day on the 20th. I think they should have a "sick out".

Anonymous said...

So when are you idiots going to be burning the crosses on the front lawn of the BOE... grow up, deal and move on to the next little thing you can blow up into a HUGE Freaking Issue !!!

Anonymous said...

Ok..first of all, this sounds like a middle school or high school teacher...why, because they mention HSA..

In that case, Mrs. Handy has NOTHING to do with them so shut up and do your frickin job!

I have known Mrs. Handy for years, worked for her as a teacher, and am white! I never felt threatened and I have never heard of others that felt the same. Quit bashing a great leader.

Oh...and if you don't like teaching, get the h@LL out and work at Walmart! We don't need you anyway. You are a CANCER to the ones that are doing their job.

Doug,

I'm sure there are many things we agree on. Delmar!? I love the year around thing, if I lived there, well, I would strongly consider it. No our school is not making a "big" deal about the 20th. Should this event be talked about and placed in it's context in history, certainly, but as has been said before, when will we get past race as an issue?

As an aside here is what J. C. Watts had to say about how "Historic" BHO is...

Quote of the Day:

J.C. Watts on Obama and History

It is good to see an African-American nominee for major political party. Now it’s not going to shock us as much. No more than to see the female reporter or black quarterback or black Republican or the Hispanic head coach. - J.C. Watts, former (BLACK) Oklahoma Republican congressman

Man Im so far passed any type of racism it shocks me. I only care because of the govermental influence threw the schools onto the children. I got passed racism that I probably was taught as a youngster on my second child. She started datng a black guy and I went into my MIRROR searching for answers, and you know what I found them. I decided right there that I would rather have a black man who treated my daughter like a queen, than a white man that didnt. Thats called a growing pain, theres so much knowledge there its explosive. Its ashame that you have to be forced into your MIRROR sometimes but at least you come out the other side washed of the stigma that your relatives forced upon you as a child. I am a real man trying the best I can not to fail my family, When you are in your MIRROR as deep as find myself sometimes there is no hate, there is no denial, theres only truth and atonement,
