Copycat Comegys?

Joe,

I watched the whole city council meeting last night. Nearly five hours, but that was because there was a ton of stuff on that agenda. I want to say "Wow!" to what you said about the zoo vet and to pat your back for covering that lady who was attacked in her home. We all need to be that gutsy and say we are mad as hell! The guy who spoke on what went on in his neighborhood was really good, too.

Reading your blog today, I noticed you caught something that made me think, the part about Barrie Tilghman gushing about the people of Salisbury as an afterthought. Good catch! I have been a steady watcher/listener since the election. Both Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen talk sincerely about the citizens. They walk the walk. In the circle I run, those two ladies are really popular. So is Barrie Tilghman trying to imitate them? Somehow, it just doesn't ring the same. And you proved it with what you wrote this morning.

Well, I want to ask, did it hit you like it did me that Gary Comegys was doing that copycat thing too last night? For example, the old standpipe, he said EXACTLY what Terry Cohen did in the paper (yes, I still get it) a week or two ago about doing the study but that funds should come from cutting elsewhere. In fact, she mentioned it on Bill Reddish's show that morning.

Oh, and he tried to pound his chest about "open government" on the special election for vacancies subject, too. Who are the two who REALLY promote open government? Yep, Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen. In fact, I heard Cohen on Bill Reddish's a couple weeks ago mention whether or not the cut off point for doing a special election should be 6 months instead of 12, and I heard Gary changed his proposal from 12 to 6 in a work session that same day! (Can you verify that, Joe? I wouldn't know how.) Cohen raised some really good questions about it last night. I'm glad they pulled it because it sounds like they haven't thought this through very well. A friend thinks Comegys wanted that special election thing because Comegys thinks the mayor's seat is guaranteed for him. What do you think, Joe?

There was another time, too. Comegys started hemming and hawing on the water-sewer allotment plan about the financing roadblocks. Well, at least on that one he gave Debbie Campbell credit for raising the issue before. I fully expected him to help ram it through, but now he's trying to look "thoughtful," I guess. That didn't ring true either, to me.

So, Joe, does it sound like Barrie Tilghman and Gary Comegys are copying Campbell and Cohen (which, if you ask me, are the only two with brains at that table)? Do they think if they just start talking differently we stupid sheeple will just forget about all the times they've stuck it to us? I just found it weird that you caught that about the mayor's comment about citizens being the great thing about Salisbury and I was sitting there last night thinking how insincere Comegys sounded. You are good at reading people, Joe, so I wanted your opinion. Heaven help us if slick talking alone gets us our next mayor because you can imagine what we'll end up with.

Thanks, Joe!

Comegys hasn't had an original thought in his head since puberty, even then his thoughts weren't original.

He will continue to swing on Terry and Debbie's coat tails all the way through the election. Why do you think Louise wants all of their questions and suggestions sent in ahead of time? Gary Comegys comments at the council meeting this past Monday night were well rehearsed and scripted. He has never opened a book at that table to reference anything. He relied on his text messages from the mare. Suddenly during a topic he wants to take a break? I wonder how good his cell phone reception is in the mens room?

Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen out think Gary Comegys in their sleep. The brightest bulb in the box he most definitely is not.

Keep up the good work ladies. We know who the thinkers are on that panel. The other 3 need a script and a box of chocolates to make it through a meeting.

Dear "M,"

Thank you for sending in your thoughts and questions. If the Mayor was to reward me for the work I do on PAC 14 the very first person I would thank is my Wife and Grandson. The second statement out of my mouth would be to thank ALL of the visitors who support this Blog.

If I was the Mayor of Salisbury and the Citizens couldn't stand me, I'd probably FORGET to mention them as being the key factos as to what makes Salisbury so special as well.

The Mayor made a complete ass out of herself by admitting LIVE on PAC 14 that she completely forgot the key rerason she's doing what she does. It's not about the people, it's about what Salisbury can do for her. That's what we call, forgetting where you came from.

As for Comegys, he's no different. You can bet every dollar in your pocket that after this Post, the Mayor and Comegys will be quick to go into damage control and make his Campaign all about the people from here on out.

Salisbury is not a joke, its leadership is. I believe a man like Jim Ireton can bring Salisbury back to being the unbelievable City it once was.

Salisbury News is no longer just a Blog and the Mayor and Comegys know it now. The local MSM know were the first to get the news because we can tell it like it is, unlike the Daily Times. The television news stations can give 20 second bites and don't have the time to detail information like this Blog can and they're now coming to realize just how valuable Salisbury News is to this community. Yesterday's meeting with Craig Jahelka proved that to no end and without ANY question yesterday.

The reason I mention this is because "I" believe people will rely on Salisbury News to steer them in the right direction when it comes to the Mayoral Election and right now I see Ireton as a leader in that race. Granted, he hasn't honored Salisbury with announcing he's running for Mayor but my guess is that he will and I welcome that. I also welcome Bob Caldwell to the race.

It's time for a serious change Ladies & Gentlemen and let me assure you, if Debbie Campbell or Terry Cohen were to run, I'd be switching my support right away.

Comegys is wasting every one's time but I'm sure it makes him feel good. It will be nothing but the same. We'll see what happens over the next few months but by no means is Comegys in a lock position for becoming Mayor. Heck, he should have lost the Council Seat to Tim Spies but they pulled a fast one at the last second with the SU Students. It won't happen again.

No, they think a TIE is going to become more likely. A CYA move, just in case...covering bases should the election outcome be close.

Joe,
I hope you know how important your work here is. There is no other way that this corrupt organization called city government would ever have any accountability, waiting for the msm to provide sunshine. What doesn't get recognized is the contribution your family makes to this whole thing. You clearly spend hour after hour attending meetings, following up and interviewing, writing, editing, filtering and posting comments, and you take a whole lot of grief in the meanwhile.
Thanks to your wife and grandson from a grateful public. We're not sure what we'd do without you and your efforts!

8:46 a.m., no, the tie vote breaker was just part of that charter change. They passed that part and one about moving up filing deadlines. If I heard correctly, the deadlines part was requested by the board of elections. Not sure where the tie vote breaker came from.

But the part about filling a vacancy was pulled for "further work." I remember clearly hearing that Comegys advanced that. So the previous commenter was right.

Four points:
1. Terry's campaign slogan was "Putting Citizens First." She did it then, she does it now, and she will continue to do it in the future. She has proved herself time and time again.
2. Tim Spies lost to Bubba for 2 reasons: SU students (many of whom don't live at the address used to register) and the lies mare told about him that were proved false after the fact.
3. Jim Ireton is smart. Instead of blowing his own horn and jumping in and announcing his candidacy, he just continues to wrok for a better Salisbury in many capacities. If and when he announces, and I sincerely hope he does run, it will be in a responsible, dignified manner, not the circus atmosphere of others.
4. Let us all pray that Debbie is re-elected and someone good get Shamie's position, and that Bubba loses by a wide margin in the mayoral race. Then maybe he will quit in shame, taking weasel with him, and the 3 remaining good guys can fill the vacancies with intelligent, caring people!

And may I add, Joe, we appreciate you, Jennifer, the little one, Art, and everyone else in your family. We know it isn't easy to spend so much time on this blog, but we could not stay informed without you.

Forget just praying for Debbie's reelection We as citizens must and will work for it. Actions speak and if the council won't see it look at the blog and other happenings. Three to two means the puppet master doesn't have all the strings she/he/it needs for the regime
