Your Tax Dollars Hard At Work!

While I respect the employees of the City of Salisbury, sometimes I have to question the wisdom of their superiors?

OK, they're spraying for weeds on the curbs and sidewalks. Two people in a vehicle at one time and let's not forget the gas bill for the truck they're driving. Oh, I should add. Remember that lamp at the end of the Plaza I posted the other day? FIXED!

Some of you are in the landscaping business. Would YOU be doing it this way, or is there a more efficient way to do it?

One man drive the truck to a central location. Park the truck. Get out and spray the weeds on foot. To spray efficiently you have to drive very slowly (hence the orange truncated triangle). No reason it couldn't be done on foot. Savings? Fuel for starters.......then one half the man hours. That is the epitome of laziness.

I'll bet it would take 20 times as long to do it on foot. All of the refilling, etc.

Would people complain if you posted pics of 2 guys on foot spraying? I could see the headline now: City Wastes Your Money.....

safety first! they have their seatbelts on!

How many times would a single man have to walk back to his truck and refill his tank? Drive the truck with a large tank in the back no wasted time of trying to refill. Single man walking around would probably end up costing way more man hours. More than the gas and the driver combined.

why not get the mare and her friggen goon gang on there hands and knees with a pair of tweezers and pull the weeds! as much money in spills she and the goons have cost the city taxpayers her fat lazy ass and bubbas to should perform this service free of charge

Com'on... there are 2 backpack tanks in the truck. They aren't spraying down a whole football field.

How bout this... they park in that parking lot and walk the area. The truck will be centrally located, if actually needed.

And I am sure they didn't cause any issues on the roads!!

I'd be willing to put that tank on my back and spray to prove you're wrong. I'm not saying to leave the truck in one location and walk the whole city spraying....you'd likely have to move the truck many times. But I'd bet I could spray it with the same or better coverage for less fuel and labor by myself than I could with a driver.

Electric golf cart, flashing beacon, one man, battery operated pump sprayer on the back, additional chemical. Nuff said. Man could spray for hours and hours and it would cost the same as running a microwave for 5 minutes.

Driving the truck is the best way to spray, but that being said they are breaking the law. You must have posted what you are spraying. Your vehical must have lic.# displayed, and they must wear long sleeve shirts. Those are the obvious laws thay are breaking. I bet there are more like not carying a wind gauge, having documented records and doing the check to see if any one in the area is on the state allergy list.

They could use Gators like Fruitland. They'd be like Junior Firemen with their 'toys'.

They don't look close enough to the weeds to me to be effective. I vote for the backpacks or golf cart idea, not to mention the proper safety adherence like someone just pointed out.

Actually, I like the idea of the mayor and her cronies pulling the weeds. It's more environmentally sensitive than more chemicals to wash into the storm drains...and sweet justice to boot!

At a near by town they had a crew cab truck two men in front seat a young boy in back with spray wand. And no traning Iam sure.

Maybe they were afraid that if they parked their vehicle at a central location, the vehicle would be stolen or have the refill tanks stolen. Or possibly that they would be assaulted by gang members whilst walking slowly around spraying the weeds. Just a thought.

Won't happen, they only gets on her knees for developers.

This is just typical of their ambitious work ethic. I used to see them ride at a snail's pace to Schumaker Park to empty the trash cans. They rode at the idling speed of the vehicle - that way they could make a small job last a long time. After all, they don't want to do too much work quickly. They may be given something else to do. And they want a raise !!!

hell, just let it grow, it represents the financial status of this mare'y chit hole....lipstick on a pig

I work for a local landscaping/ land managment for a local business and I was taught to do it on foot! Now on the other hand consider the matter of how our local government is screwed up. Its a shame. Those weeds will live.

boy it would take a boatload of lipstick to make that sweatHog look better.

nothing like some of that fresh weed killer to run down the storm drain and into the river
