A Comment Worthy Of A Post

"Joe, several years ago Food Lion in Fruitland was robbed by a brother and sister. Employees were able to stop the brother and hold him there until police showed up. The sister ran through the back of the parking lot right into my backyard. She was hiding on my front porch when the Fruitland police found and arrested her with several steaks down her pants. She had had the steaks there for over an hour. When the trial date came I showed up due to her being on my property. No one from Food Lion showed up. They said since they had gotten the steaks back and that they were resellable they wouldn't press any charges against her. For this, I will not buy any meats from there."

ILL, Thanks for letting us know, I already don't buy meat from Food Lion cause its always looks dark around the edges, You just helped me make that extra ride past the Food Lion even if I have to go out of my way! Super Fresh, has the freshes meats in town.

...thats disgusting! I have never hunted in my life...now, I am thinking its time! At least that way I know what I am getting! You can't trust any stores, if one does it, I am sure they all do something similar! I know you can return ANYTHING to Walmart! I have seen people return all kinds of perishables! Yuck!

Did you decide to not buy meat from Food Lion because the stolen meat was concealed in her pants or because it had been out of the frig for several hours?

That's why I buy my meat at Sam's... the package is too big to stuff down those baggy pants to go unnoticed!

I haven't shopped at food lion since ABC busted them for selling outdated meats and vegatables. ABC is now the bad guy and on trial for planting undercover jornalist in Food Lions to catch them. No, Food Lion is disgusting.

They were busted a long time ago that they are still practicing sleazy business tactics. I remember it just like it was yesterday. Boycott Food Lion!!

Check out this link if Joe will post it, if not just google it.

You can google Food Lion ABC undercover and come up with numerous stories.

The day the steaks were stollen it was very warm outside. Food Lion was informed where the meat had been found and where the woman had been hiding. The thought of them thinking it was resellable was what made me decide not to buy meats there.

The thought of food being in anyones pants for that amount of time in the heat is disgusting.

I know you love Sam's for your meats, but did you ever read the small print on the package that says it is pumped with 11% water solution. If the price of meat continues to climb, the amount of water solution will probably go to 15%.
As a butcher until the markets started to buy mass packaged meats from the suppliers, I have to tell you that all meat is dark until it hits the air. Yes, I've seen meat that's just about out of date that's dark but that's just nasty.
I cringe every time I go to Walmart and Sam's and see that prepackaged meat looking bright red and watery. Now that is NOT NATURAL! It's pumped full of so much crap it keep it looking like that, it's a wonder we aren't all sick.
This meat is packaged in the same processing plants that are always having their hamburg recalled!

Before we all go knocking every food lion around, i think alot of the quality has to do with the managers. The food lion on Nanticoke road is pretty good. When meats are sale really cheap, I would definately do a real good check to ensure that the meat is ok. I would suggest that they use more than two check out lanes tho.

I,too, have NEVER forgotten that "busted for bleaching the meat" expose on ABC.Where is the health dept on all this?
I buy the freshest, most affordable meats around at Riggins Market in Crisfield-cut ON PREMISES fresh and they also fulfill special requests(special cuts, etc)all at a most affordable price.Their regular ground beef is so lean I often have to add cooking oil to keep it from burning when I cook it.Elsewhere you have to pay more for lean ground beef.

That is true for alot of Food Lion shoplifting complaints. They see the perp, chase him/her down, drag them back to the store, call the police to have them arrested. Then, when the trial date arrives, they are a no-show in court.

I love the Fruitland Food Lion. I'm sure they didn't try to sell the stolen goods. While we're knocking grocery stores, I was in "Wally World" looking to buy some oranges. When I stirred the pile a bit, there were tiny CRITTERS, I recognized as baby ROACHES crawling throughout the bin. Now I don't "do" any grocery shopping there. And, FYI, they're not that much cheaper. It isn't worth it.
