While I delivered photos yesterday of the cracks in the floor at the new Fire Station, here's more! If you'll notice, the crack extends out of the first block and towards the shoes of the person standing there in a northerly direction. Do notice AGAIN that the expansion joints have once again FAILED and there is in fact a serious problem with this floor. We all know See & Gordy will be desperately telling everyone the concrete is perfectly sound, no problems. However, you also will not see them fix it.

Mistakes happen in construction and these may not be as bad as they look (albeit embarrassing in any event). What is really shocking is how Comegys responded when asked about the cracking at the Open House -- "what do you want me to do about it" -- spoken in a manner that was clearly a put down, not an honest question.
Can you imagine how Barrie would have responded to that question if she had been there: "you really need to have your eyes examined, but don't forget that I'm responsible."
Where is the lawsuit against the contractor. Better keep Station 16 until these problems are corrected. I can see this scenerio, Siren goes off and no response. WHY? Fire trucks cannot leave, stuck in Firehouse because of sunken floors. aen

When the crack extends across multiple slabs, the problem is not the expansion joints. There are some serious problems under this floor. Fixing this problem is going to involve major $$$$$$. However, I expect the course of action will involve a caulking gun and a can of paint. I bet they wish they thought of this before open house!
As a faux finish artist, I could offer my services to make the floor look as if it's made from fine Italian Carrera Marble; which by the way if had really been installed we may understand the 10million dollar price tag!
Can the taxpayers expect a comment from the Mayor or Mr Pick on this issue ? There is definitely a problem here and it is now front page news. It is not going away and we deserve an explanation. I may not be a builder, but I know that cracks don't get better. They only get worse.

They will live with this problem while the contractors laugh all the way to the bank. Gordo, how much did you get paid off. I know See got paid off because he barely makes minimum wage, lives in a low dollar prefab house and has filed bankruptcy. Desperate people do crooked things. These crooks need to pay there bills.
Does anyone have anything on him in Delaware.

I just knew there would be poroblems with the floor in this new station. And it will cost some big $$$ to fix this mess. Also, heard there is a crack in one of the walls. And this cost us tax payers $9 or $10 million and all we got is a defective building, and this is just the beginning folks.

How is it going to cost money to fix this problem when they already ignored it. Haven't you noticed the buffing and grinding on the floor with shiny coat of sealing it. Someone said it best yesterday when they said something about buffing a wrecked car.
Cracks in the floor - OK. Little lights at the doors - OK. Fire truck drivers who run into the garage door - OK. But really, did you have to publish the bankruptcy? Don't you agree that was a mean thing to do? This guy never claimed he was anything except a loyal fireman, willing to work hard for an honest living. Lots of people have embarassing personal matters. Let's not discourage them from working in public jobs. You have presented no evidence of embezzlement or theft. Just cracks in the floor, etc. Let's all just laugh at the cracks in the floor and leave this guy's personal life out of it. That's my opinion.
For the record, what the author is referring to are not expansion joints, they're "control joints". There's a big difference between the two. Nevertheless, it's poor workmanship.
