Dee, Dee, Deeee Lights

On each and every one of the bays in the new Fire Garage they have these lights that tell you when you can and cannot go. Since when has a Firefighter ever paid attention to a Red Light?

Chief See stated that you'd be amazed at how many doors are lost because they drove through before the door was completely open. SEE WHAT I MEAN! Now they have stop and go lights to allow you to know when it's safe to pull in or pull out. Just for the fun of it fellas, do you also have these lights in your homes? When the red light is on you stay at the Fire Station?

What happens if your color blind?

With the use of the "N" Word in that Fire Station, trust me, they're not color blind.

This post gets my nomination for "funniest post of the year"

The lights pictured are a national safety standard. By code they have to be installed in this type of occupancy.

Hey Joe what are you trying to say with the "If the red light is on do you stay at the firehouse comment? I certainly hope your not trying to insult someones family. You know no one is allowed to do that to you. I certainly hope that is not what you are doing. That is not news worthy.

The "news" in this article is the Dee, Dee, Deeee lights you DON'T have in your garage and seem to get by without.

Should it be a National Code that ALL Firefighters homes must have these Dee, Dee, Deeee lights installed in their garages as well?

Seems to make a lot of sense. Do everything possible to protect US from people that can't follow the rules, right?

Maybe they should also pass a code to install governors on their vehicles too, so they can't get above 55 mph?

Here's another good one. A device that cuts their engine off if they run a red light?

Joe -

You are so clever and funny ! You have it right about things.....should have had someone like you a long time ago to point out all the coverups and good ole boy things around here. I am a "come here" from 28 yrs ago but still see the good ole boy way of life still exists. Just like the firehouse....always a "reason" for everything! Never wrong....

Ok,these lights may now be required because some bureaucrat somewhere dreamed them up to make him/her look important.
But, come on a firetruck driver cannot see a huge roll up door being fully open but can see that little a-- light.
Why didn't they install something that would not let you put the truck in gear until the door was fully open.
Or we could use that room with the oak wood moulding and hold classes on what to look for before driving out of the firehouse bays.

Don't they back the fire equipment in the bays? If they are backed in, facing the doors and still take off before the doors are opened all the way, you need to get a new driver. Then again, there are daytime running lights on cars because people are to stupid to turn them on in certain weather conditions or at dusk.

Idiot proofing of America.

I am a from here and believe me there is no such thing as a "good old boy" syndrome.
The kind of arrogance and wastefulness we see at all levels of government has nothing to do with "come here-from-here" it is a learned attitude. It is a reckless disregard for the tax dollar I expect there are some from here's that were a part of building this new elaborate fire house.
The point is that no matter where you are from or how long you have been here or there, you can become a wasteful tax dollar spender other wise know as "WTDS".

Joe:
go look on the city of salisbury bid website....look at all that AV equipment, etc. While I understand and agree items are needed for training and some home comforts need to be provided since these people are away from their homes for 24 hours at a time this is overboard. Also an EMS notification system? Every fireman, paramedic, police, etc. carry a radio...what in the world!!!

Instead of trying to feed this bullshit about safety standards and codes can you cite the actual code. I didn't think so. Get real Bozo.

Well I've got news for you mr. anon 1012am From Here. I am from here also and I live the good ole boy system here everyday. It is here and alive and well. Although I believe your theory on WTPS syndrome, with all do respect you need to go crawl back under your rock.

How do they get back into the firehouse, without a green light to tell them it's OK?

Volunteer fireman do not get paid. I bet most of the fire company's critics don't volunteer for anything. They want a dollar for every finger they raise but are willing to receive the benefits of the work that voluteers do. It is incumbent that all citizens give up some of their free time to help others or their community. Some volunteer at the hospital, join Lions Clubs, the fire company, etc. Unless you are a volunteer, you should keep your mouth shut and extend thank you's to those wonderful people who do.

Watchdog: the negative comments are intended for the good ole boys who do the spending. I don't think the sarcasm was intended for you. You obviously aren't one of the good ole boys who do the spending. Hope you feel better now.

Hey redneck, go back to your trailer and turn the heat up on yer keroseen stove cuz its chilly out.

No seriously Mr. Redneck. I don't think anyone is criticizing your fire company. The criticism is for the redneck leaders of the Salisbury Fire Department and the elected unofficials in the city. The ones raping us taxpayers. Of course you wouldn't know anything about paying taxes since your slum lord has to pay them when he collects the rent on your trailer.
