SALISBURY, Md. – Wicomico County officials have reopened trails and day use areas in county parks. Playgrounds, pavilions, tennis courts, basketball courts and pickleball courts will remain closed.
Visitors must follow social distancing guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC; https://www.cdc.gov/) and the Maryland Department of Public Health (MDH; https://health.maryland.gov/) to ensure a safe environment for themselves and others. Park restrooms will remain closed, and visitors are advised to prepare accordingly.
“Public cooperation with social distancing guidelines at county parks is critical,” said Steve Miller, director of Wicomico Recreation, Parks & Tourism. “Failure to adhere to these guidelines could result in reverting back to complete park closures.”
Clarification on activities permitted at parks under Governor Hogan’s Stay at Home order can be found on the Department of Natural Resources website at https://news.maryland.gov/dnr/2020/03/31/frequently-asked-questions-about-governor-hogans-stay-at-home-order/.
Decisions made by county officials are fluid and can be changed at any time.
The Wicomico Recreation, Parks, Tourism and Civic Center department will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation through regular updates from the Wicomico County Health Department and the Department of Emergency Services. Updates will be shared with the press, as well as posted to department websites and social media outlets.

Thank you Sir
Will Jake be on the 🌈swings.
It's about friggin time! I know how to stay away from people and wear a mask. This closing was BS.
Wrong decision!! We have not seen a reduction of Covid cases for 14 days. I wonder if the county attorney if they have one was asked his opinion on this.We live in a sue happy nation people just be prepared.Maybe we can use some of Hogans S/K test kits for park patrons. This is Salisbury high society pushing to have the trails reopened at the historical park on the river.
Out of State tourists in Wicomico County Parks?
514pm...how'bout you just shelter in fear another 6 months, stfu and let the adults handle it. If you dont start giving peoples rights back to them your going to have far more to worry about very soon.
Mayor said the curve is flattening, not rising.
Got to have a area opened up for all the early released sex offenders, thieves, and rapist to operate in.
How is it the wrong decision? If we can all be in stores shopping using and masks and social distancing and the curve still flattening how could being on a trail out in the open alone or with your family cause any harm!
514 if your ss check was stopped until America opened you would feel a lot different.
Please calm down. More than likely you and everyone else are already infected and most of us will be just fine. The fact this is happening because humans are filthy animals that won't simply wash their damn nasty germy hands should be what we really mad about.
citizens should be asking county recreation supervisors what they and their "workers" are doing right now. there are no ball games being played. i understand that all their weeds need to be mowed but how many lazy asses need to be on the payroll for that? LAY EM OFF! the fields have sucked for a long time so i don't imagine they would be any worse. also, people should be asking how many tens of thousands of dollars were spent on the 2 infields at the complex that the county rec boys just destroyed. we will never have a softball season at that dump. mackes and conrad fell for chucks crap and now miller is stuck with him.none of these stooges are gifted intellectually. andrew g would make a better superintendent of parks.
1118 is right. i have watched what has been going on at the athletic complex and it is unreal. money has to be falling from the sky.i'm all for recreation but in wicomico county that bunch has to be the most over funded of all departments. steve miller and his bunch of bandits should come out of their offices and take a look around. i would imagine that taxpayers are even paying for lindas hair spray and i'm sure thats hundreds of dollars a month.she stood outside in new orleans when hurricane katrina struck and her hair never moved
