Mark Meadows to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: Lawmakers are busy, not 'just sitting around eating bonbons'

Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., told Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., that lawmakers need more than three days’ notice to attend questioning because they are busy and not just “sitting around eating bonbons.”

The two butted heads during the first meeting of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform since Democrats took control of the House, which was also the first time Meadows and the freshman congresswoman appeared at a committee meeting together.

Meadows and other Republicans on the Oversight Committee told Chairman Elijah Cummings, D-Md., that they believe members should get five days’ notice to attend questioning of witnesses by Democratic staff lawyers.
