On October 12, a pilot for TUI Airways executed a sideways landing at Bristol Airport in the UK during Storm Callum.
The tower lists the winds at 180 degrees at 26 knots gusting to 40 knots, so for a runway configuration like Bristol, that's a direct crosswind. This pilot had to land the Boeing 767 sideways on a wet runway.

WOW now that's what you call a pilot.
The pilot used the crosswind instead of letting it own him. Beautiful landing!
Crazy skills. That was amazing!
Pilot did exactly as every pilot is trained to do when there is a crosswind. Everyone with a pilot's license has to know how to do it. But it's still a gutzy thing to do. Then again, when a pilot doesn't have a choice, they will do what is required by the weather. Does anyone think a pilot has a choice when they have to do a landing like that? If they want to get on the ground, that's what they have to do. I've been in a small Cessna when we had to land sideways on the runway. It was a hoot (after we were safe on the ground)!
