Schumer Comes Clean: Democrats - Not Russia - Are To Blame For Hillary's Loss

In a somewhat shockingly frank interview with The Washington Post, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer says that Democrats, not Russia, are to blame for Hillary Clinton’s loss to President Trump.

"When you lose to somebody who has 40 percent popularity, you don’t blame other things - [James] Comey, Russia - you blame yourself."

"So what did we do wrong? People didn’t know what we stood for, just that we were against Trump. And still believe that."

The reason for Schumer's sudden bout of honesty appears to be a rebranding effort for The Democrats. As The Hill reports,

The Democratic party is planning to unveil a new agenda which includes the slogan, “A Better Deal: Better Jobs, Better Wages, Better Future,” and Schumer vows that it’s an expression “that everyone will use - a better deal for workers, a better deal for women, a better deal for prescription-drug buyers.”

Schumer said the new agenda “is not about moving the party left or right, and it’s not about appealing to one coalition or another. A strong, sharp-edged, populist, bold economic message appeals to the Obama coalition and the people who voted for Trump - former Democrats who voted for Trump.”

Of course, this is not the narrative that Hillary Clinton has spewed for the last 8 months. As we detailed in June, Hillary Clinton has put forth a formidable list of culprits for why she lost the 2016 presidential election. The Fox News Research team totaled up the excuses and found a whopping 24 items!

I know this Blog has plenty of Trump fans, and I voted for him as well. But this admission by Mr. Schumer is an acurate portrayal of what happened during this past election. The Dems lost the election, more so than did the Republicans win it. They lost because they had a very flawed and hated candidate who was known for committing multiple felonies in and out of public service.

This is an important fact to recognize for the Democrats of course. But it is equally important for Trump supporters to recognize as well. We Trump supporters must resist the temptation to worship our candidate, the POTUS. He is also a very flawed individual who was a reality TV actor and had limited success in real estate which included many bankruptcies, many crooked insider deals, and a lot of help in the beginning from his wealthy father. How many of us could have achieved the same or better results if we had several million dollars of seed money and a great college education as a head start on life? Seriously? How many of us could have done just as well if not even better than Mr. Trump with that head start?

I merely am pointing out that he should not be worshipped. I see a lot of evidence that regular Americans are in fact worshipping him and supporting everything he does without criticizing any of it. The facts are that he is a very flawed individual and so far, has been his own worst enemy in Washington DC. He made some lofty promises which probably are not realistic at all.

Let's get back to holding all of Washington DC accountable for their actions and their inactions. Our Country needs to pull power away from the Wall Street bankers and crony-capitalists who are raping this economy for their own greed. Mr. Trump has a lot of work to do, and it involves WORKING WITH OTHERS which so far he seems to be incapable of doing?

Thank you

Republicans also equal big government and freebies. No checks and balances whatsoever.

Come on now. You know both political parties are corrupt, don't you? Don't be naïve. All of the politicians are targets for corruption by the Wall Street financiers. Don't forget Mr. Trump was a long time supporter of the Clinton Family and ADMITTED AS MUCH in the Republican debates.

The entire Federal Government reeks of corruption.
Don't fall for the fake 2 party, we versus them, mentality. It is a farce designed to make you think someone in Washington cares about your interests. They do not. None of them care.

Educate yourself!

1:36 your comment is so true on both parties are corrupt. Pres Trump is attempting to correct some of this mess is the reason for all this resistance. Now what is the Democrat agenda since this admission means the Russian collusion theory pushed by the Democrats is false with no evidence and a waste of tax dollars. Democrats new slogan sounds identical to the Trump agenda that they are constantly obstructing. I like to hear all these Democrats explain why they are agreeing with the Trump agenda since they are obstructing it.

Firstly, I'd like to ask 12:28 if he REALLY voted for Trump or is he couching his criticism under less volatile perspective?
Secondly, Trump won. He didn't get a default vote from democrat incompetence (it helped, though).
He won because he BELIEVED what he said and he TRULY saw a train wreck of a country lead by ace-kissing, say whatever they want to hear politicians who kept telling us how peaceful muslims are and why it's SO DAMN IMPORTANT to make sure cross dressing creeps get to follow our daughters into the rest room. They faked numbers, lied about results, committed f'ing felonies, openly took bribes, and then insulted people who disagreed. They called good honest Americans bigots, racists, deplorable (their fellow citizens!!), redneck gun toting losers, religious nuts, and quite a few other names.
He might make some mistakes, but he's doing and acting just like we wanted and voted for.....point a finger at so-called republicans who RAN on 'repealing obamacare', but now, can't seem to find the guts.
Hillary had an army of people who had no clue that transgendered rights weren't that important to the majority (that's right -- the majority, even democrat voters) and thought that being a woman (or something close to it) was all she needed. She was fake, unhealthy, plastic, and scripted to the Nth degree. Not an original thought in her head.
1:36 has a good grasp of reality.
Keep cheering.

The name may be new but the losing policies of the 70 past years will continue.

The idea that the Democrats lost the election, as opposed to the Republicans winning it is a sound idea. The Democrats have the votes. If they had turned out they would have won. They did not turn out to vote for Hildabeast, and therefore Mr. Trump won.
Great for America.

Having said that, I agree with everything 1228 had to say. It is exactly what I am thinking too. Mr. Trump needs to get to work and he needs desperately to get some allies in Congress. If he doesn't then he will be a do-nothing POTUS. Simple as that. Good ideas, but no experience getting things done in a very hostile environment. Washington DC is the big time and Mr. Trump had better tighten the ole belt or he will have his Administration taken out behind the proverbial woodshed and thoroughly thrashed. His lack of experience with all things Washington is showing and he looks stupid most of the time tweeting like a little school girl.

To all of the above: D.C. is like a couple of competing frat houses. One has to "pay the dues" so to speak then go through the rush. Trump didn't do that. He is an outsider and is not one of the boys. It is frustrating to these bozos who are steeped in incompetence (talk about the Peter Principle) to see a guy waltz in with big ideas and an actual plan how to accomplish them. Then, bring in the family who has more smarts in their pinkies than a lot of these, again, bozos who are career establishment politicos. They use their poli sci and law degrees to debate and that and $1.25 buys a cup of coffee. The folks are hurting and needed someone to jump start America. Trump can do that if the bozos would let him.
