She graduated from Conrad High School in Wilmington and had a long career as an executive secretary. She had an avid interest in aviation and worked for the General Manager of Trans World Airlines (TWA). She eventually retired after many years with the DuPont Company where she was employed in the International Division assisting overseas executives.
She and her late husband Donald O. Ness eventually retired to Salisbury and were members of St. Frances de Sales Catholic Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna M Horsey (Robert) of Laurel, DE and Gusta N. Kramme (Bruce) of Tucson, AZ; and one son, Donald A Ness (Deborah) of Richmond, VA. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Christopher, Brett, Meredith and Micah as well as eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald and one sister, Margaret Clatch.
