Statewide Efforts In Place To Combat Heroin Overdoses

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Despite a statewide effort to fight against the epidemic, heroin overdoses and deaths continue to rise in Maryland.

Killing almost 100 Americans every day, heroin is now considered a public health emergency.

President Obama took note of the epidemic earlier this year.

“The only way that we reduce demand is if we’re providing treatment,” the president said.

Most Americans have no idea that the US government is involved in the heroin smuggling. The soldiers guard the poppy fields so the CIA can harvest and sell the heroin. The military is in the drug cultivation business. That is why they never win wars. They aren't supposed to win. Their presence in Afghanistan is justified by "terror", when in reality, they are there to harvest poppies.

Why don't I care one iota? With all the info out there if you decide to make the choice to do heroin you probably are going to die. They know this so who cares if they do die since they don't care. I mean if you walk in front of a car you might die. So are you going to walk in front of a car?

The numbers of overdoses increase in Maryland, as do the hundreds of new users every week.

In my oppinion..limiting doctors ability to prescribe pain meds made the heroin pro elm worse..many people addicted to pain meds were forced to move on to heroin to feed thier addiction. They eventually fall out of doctors care..turn to crime to feed it..when the doctor could have recognized the problem and gotten them treatment..if they had stayed under care..but when a doc says no more pills most of them drop out because of fear and embarrassment..I know there are bad docs but most would have recognized a problem and helped thier patients get help...

2:51 Same with unhealthy sex..... Guess we shouldn't treat HIV patients or those who get cervical cancer from STDs. Or smokers who get lung cancer.

What are you a special kind of simple 4:44 not the same. Heroin is illegal. It also causes like said above crime to increase to pay for addictions. Does sex or cigarettes cause all those social problems. Do they cause you to steal to feed the addiction? NO so your comparison is absurd and asinine. Come back when you can think logically. Okay!

4:44 don't be ridiculous. Heroin tops the chart for sudden death. If someone is going to tempt fate that is a choice they made and a choice they made alone. Don't make excuses because enablers like you are a major cause. Also it is absurd to compare. You enablers need to start using your heads. HIV and cancer are diseases. If someone stops having sex or smoking the diseases aren't going away. If someone stops doing heroin they get better. This disease BS is stupid. These so called treatment centers don't want people off drugs. "Recovery" is too big a business. They shove down addicts' throats they have a "disease" which then makes the losers who use drugs feel more socially accepted and the enablers eat it up because it takes the blame off of them. It's all a big racket and most people are too dumb to see it.
