ARREST MADE IN DELMAR APARTMENT FIRE


WICOMICO COUNTY (September 22, 2016) Deputy State Fire Marshals have made an arrest in connection with an apartment fire which occurred on June 2nd 2016. The investigation concluded that Jamie N. Joynes (31) was responsible for setting a fire at 304 E. Elizabeth Street in Delmar, MD. An arrest warrant was obtained charging Joynes with 1st Degree Arson, 2nd Degree Arson, Malicious Burning 1st Degree, Malicious Destruction of Property and two counts of Reckless Endangerment.

The one alarm fire was reported at 7:45 am on June 2nd and brought 30 firefighters from Delmar, Hebron and Salisbury Station #2. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes and caused an estimated $60,000.00 in total damages.

Deputy State Fire Marshals served the arrest warrant and took Joynes into custody at a residence in Frederica Delaware with the assistance of the Delaware State Police. Joynes was seen by a Delaware Justice of the Peace where she waived and consented to extradition. Joynes was then transported to the Wicomico County Detention Center and is being held on $75,000.00 bond.

If convicted of all charges, Joynes faces 68 years incarceration and / or $97,500.00 dollars in fines.
