WASHINGTON — University of Maryland officials have launched a formal investigation into whether police use of force was appropriate after university officers used pepper spray to disperse a party in College Park early Saturday.
At around 1:45 a.m. police responded to the call for a loud party and a report of a fight in one of the apartments in the 8500 block of Boteler Lane, university officials said in an emailed statement.
University officials said a decision was made to shut down the party after police officers were told that someone may have had a bat. Additional officers were called to assist the group.
At some point, pepper spray was used to disperse the crowd in the hallway. Pepper spray was used a second time in the parking lot.

There police should investigate the Race baiters at SU that president ESHBACH wont.
Using mace to disperse is the best idea...
UMD campus police are terrible to deal with. I had a family member who went to that college and they were harassed many times by the police. Not when attending parties, but merely going to class.
