As Officer Edward Nero learned his fate, local leaders called for acceptance of the not guilty verdict.
“This is what justice looks like,” said Congressman Elijah Cummings.
Cummings—a prominent figure during last April’s unrest—says the case was tried in Baltimore City and decided by a Baltimore judge. He believes the decision is fair.
“A lot of people may not like the decision but in the justice system like ours, you cannot guarantee result,” Cummings said.
The sentiment is echoed by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, who says in part, “This is our American system of justice and police officers must be afforded the same justice system as every other citizen in this city, state and country.”

State prosecutor could indicte her but won't because she could say it's racist. Also she probably has a direct line to the White House at this point. I hope the police officer sues her and the office.

When everything is so corrupt, what do you expect, I told you all from day one no cop will ever be convicted... They may stand trial to shut your mouth up or to stop you from rioting, but it is all smoke and mirrors... Cops do what they want because they know, there will be no consequence when it comes to the law...
If cops can shoot an unarmed man in the back while running away which is no treat to the cop, and get away with it, what make you think cops who beat someone to death will go to jail?
She will be out of office if they don't start convicting these innocent police officers.
