It happened at the Howard High School of Technology in the 400 block of East 12th Street on Thursday morning.
The name of the girl, who was a sophomore, has not been released.
No charges have been announced. Two girls and several witnesses are at the Wilmington Police Department being interviewed by detectives.
Mayor Dennis Williams had to take a moment to compose himself while speaking at a news conference, held a short time after learning the student had passed away.

6:10 sorry - thanks to the U.S. Supreme Court decisions in 1962, prayer and God were officially removed from the schools and thus began the downward spiral where we now find ourselves. God help us all?????? yeah, everywhere except in schools.

So true 6:59. We are friends w/a couple from Turkey who have 2 children that are getting ready to enter middle school here on Delmarva. They have decided to send the children to Catholic school because they are so disgusted with public school.. This is a Muslim couple! They aren't practicing Muslims though. They said besides all the trouble with students they don't like the propaganda the public schools instill in the students. They said they are no better than the schools in Turkey and the Middle East that teach children to hate Christians and Jews, homosexuals. They said children here in public schools are taught to hate Christians, people who value traditional marriage, people who aren't sympathizers to thugs, people who because of their faith don't approve of the homosexual lifestyle.
They just couldn't get over how much hate is instilled in the children in the US public schools.
Convert to Judaism and all is well

That's why my wife and I work two jobs. To send our kids to school without the thugs or perverted teachers union agenda!! It's tough but they are great,intelligent kids that learn math,English and American history. Not too mention a little prayer here and there.

The girl who killed her needs to be charged as an adult. If not she will learn nothing form her actions.
It was girls that beat her not one girl. More typical of the subculture that committed this crime. They act in packs. Just listen to the music lyrics and thug life. They do not have a chance. These kids have no role models. Parents and God are the only hope for these kids. When you live in a concrete jungle you become hunter or the hunted. The kids that want to right can not because they are running a gauntlet every day. Juvenile Justice system in the country needs a serious overhaul. Kids who want to learn deserve a chance. The rest need to be in some type of correctional facility period.
This is all these thugs understand. They have no upbringing, and nothing is taught at home but, "get yours any way you can", and "no one can tell you what to do", "Not even the police". They ARE NOT taught to respect anyone. If this had been a black girl beat by white girls, Wilmington would have streets blocked, cars and buildings burnt, police attacked, store windows busted,etc. But since it is black on black, they could care less. Holding hands and thier heads held low? Like they care. They will just hold the girls responsible for this in high regard. They will be calling them, " straight up gangstas". What a bunch of bigots.
