$150 for a dog has not been socialized. They must be kidding, right? Don't even give me crap about my post. Every dog that we have owned in the past 25 years has been a pure bred rescue from private individuals w/o paying a 501c3. Current dog is 13yo and lives a life that most of you dream of. Winters in FL and summers in Md, both are waterfront homes. When it is his time, he will take a .40 cal. in the head and be buried on the farm with every other pet since 1974.

604 while I agree with you that $150 is too high to charge for an unsocialized pup, your last sentence is very disturbing, callous and inhumane. Perhaps your family should entertain same fate for you in your senior years being that as you said, it's a family tradition since 1974.
When you consider that these dogs have all their shots, micro chipped as well as spayed or neutered...not so bad.
I go back and forth with adoption fees. The thing is if someone can't afford $150 fee without missing it then what if there is an emergency?
I'm also very worried about these dogs. You know most of the people are adopting out of emotion and that is it. They would have never dreamed of getting or even wanted a dog before this all happened.

I would love to be buried on my farm when I go but if all goes as planned it will be left to an internationally known animal rights organization and I don't want them restricted in what they can do here.

With 400 dogs Im sure there will be some that are adopting out of emotion. However it is hard to find small dogs in this area so hopefully they will all go to good homes. I have a friend that looked for a long time for a little dog. Many rescues wanted hundreds of dollars for them. California has an abundance of small dogs but not here. Most dogs I see on the humane society website are larger dogs.

Very cute. I would love to take one home and, yes, $150 isn't bad especially for a spayed female. Unfortunately, I simply don't have the time to work with one so I will not be getting any. I am praying that they all get good loving homes. And while many of you dislike 602's methods, a bullet to the head if proper caliber and well aimed is a quick and painless death. The problem is most people these days aren't that well gun educated.
814 you have to remember the HS is not a no-kill shelter. If they don't adopt out in a time period the animals are put to sleep. Would say in regards to adoption fee if they really want to keep pups alive then fee should be lower. A lot of this is bureaucracy as they also get subsidiaries from donations and taxes. As for the farm comment I have more of a problem with shooting a dog rather than putting them down in a less violent manner.
They are little angels and they deserve the very best.
9:31 There is no chance of these dogs being put to sleep (which I'm sure the HS now knows since they finally decided to get serious and appoint a director with a brain) because there are several nationally recognized Pom and Pom mix rescues who would take them in a heartbeat.

If you can't afford 150.00, you can't afford the animal. The vet fees for spay/nuture,shots,and such are way more than that. This ensures a little pet owner responsibility. I know it doesn't give complete peace of mind. As for the stupid comments grow the hell up. It's not the place for it. And anyone that can shoot an animal to put them to death when there are other avenues is as ridiculous as the people that had the dogs to begin with. I'm glad you think the fee is to much :-)
