Americans have short memories. He was just another crooked pos pol when he was alive now he is 'such a nice guy' and 'a great pol'.

Show me a politician who can play 100% by the book and still be effective.Some of whom have gone down in history as being crooks only did what they had to do to get the job done.That was a required adjustment when they sometimes stepped into an ALREADY CORRUPT SYSTEM.He was a great governor.

Wrong is wrong. Honorable people do it the RIGHT way.
He was not a great governor by anyone's stretch of the imagination unless you are part of the low information crowd. He was the beginning of the state's massive debt because of all the social programs he expanded and implemented with no thought of how to pay for them or concern for the next generation that would be stuck w/the debt. He put the schools under state control also. He was all about big government.
He was a horrid man both professionally and in his personal life.
Marvin Mandel and Spiro Agnew will be remembered as disgraced governors of Maryland both convicted as felon's.
