More than half of the nation's immigrants receive some kind of government welfare, a figure that's far higher than the native-born population, according to a report to be released Wednesday.
About 51% of immigrant-led households receive at least one kind of welfare benefit, including Medicaid, food stamps, school lunches and housing assistance, compared to 30% for native-led households, according to the report from the Center for Immigration Studies, a group that advocates for lower levels of immigration.
Those numbers increase for households with children, with 76% of immigrant-led households receiving welfare, compared to 52% for the native-born.
The findings are sure to fuel debate on the presidential campaign trail as Republican candidates focus on changing the nation's immigration laws, from calls for mass deportations to ending birthright citizenship.

If they would do away with birthright citizenship they could stop paying any of this. From my understanding if you are here illegally you can not collect the benefits. Many are collecting from the anchor babies. Stop that and you would save a ton of money!
Also get rid of the "family reunification" immigration where people bring their elderly family members and immediately get them on SSI, Medicaid and food stamps. These are people who never paid a dime in taxes!
It's a huge problem. They come here because their own countries don't have the safety nets in place to help the poor. In Mexico you have to live in Mexico City to get unemployment. I know sounds crazy but it's true. If you move there in hopes of collecting you have to work many months before you qualify. This in not possible. Food entitlement programs are only available to the disabled and the elderly. That's it. No one else. Even private charities aren't allowed to help anyone other than the elderly or the disabled. This is all by design to get rid of those who aren't considered desirable to have in residence in that country. It is like that in most South American countries too. Mexico has become a very wealthy country by shipping their poverty stricken residents to the US.
Hard to believe. Most work harder then the "others" on welfare
Obama will save them and give them voter Id also, he will just make an executive order.
Cloward Piven strategy.
Disgusting and discouraging. Elect the Donald our only change to correct the mess the US is in.
As much as I don't want illegals in this country I have to acknowledge the fact that I see them cutting grass at 6:30 in the morning at various business near Salisbury; and using a push mower to boot. This is more than I can say for another group of individuals who are born in America and complain of 'no jobs' are available.
4:31 It's not the ones complaing about no jobs, that piss me off.
It's the ones that don't care about having a job, and never will.

You have to be a citizen of the US to collect. Documented persons don't qualify either though yes anchor babies do.
But......a medical facility can apply for Medicaid for a legal non citizen (i.e. documented worker) AND illegals in medical emergencies up to the time that the patient is stabilized. Now just because they are stable doesn't mean their condition couldn't still be critical and no hospital is going to toss out a patient who is critical, here in the US legally or otherwise. Some pay some don't and these unpaid bills are what adds to the cost of medical care, resulting in higher insurance rates for everyone.
