Bill would impact taxes paid by travel agents

ANNAPOLIS, Md. —A battle over travel agent fees is brewing in Annapolis, and it could have an impact on how you travel.

The legislation requires travel agents to pay sales taxes based on how much it costs the customer, rather than at the discounted rate the agent gets.

Bill supporters include a hotel association and the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, but the travel and tourism industries said this is dangerous legislation that creates a new tax that will certainly be passed onto to consumers.

Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia, et al, are technically travel agents. You can look it up!

Absolutely not! Labor is not taxable anywhere. Let's stop that ship from sailing right now!
