The news network would cut ties with the former first daughter if her mother formally announces that she will be seeking the presidency, and the month-to-month contract would be an easier way to do that.
It is not clear how much she earns in the monthly deal, but Politico reported that her contract was up for renewal or non-renewal this year.

Maybe she can loan her "dead broke" mom some cash.
I have heard her reporting and found her to be deadpan in her delivery and in the light of her salary ..highly over paid.
Her stratospheric pay right out of college and anytime she was hired afterward is just influence peddling in a dress instead of a pantsuit.
NBC has been 100% owned by Comcast since March 2013; for a few years previous they had 51%. If you subscribe you're paying for her 'expertise'.
I'm sure her contribution was worth it. I'd have to sleep with someone to get that. Oh, just so it isn't Uberman
