You Asked, I'm Delivering

Many have asked what the traffic has been like at the Old Mill recently and considering I travel past that restaurant almost every single day I thought I'd deliver the answer.

As you know, Friday wasn't very busy. Saturday night, (on the other hand) was quite busy. Last night, (above) was clearly another flop. You do have to wonder how many of the vehicles in the parking lot are employee vehicles.

Does anyone know what they're charging so far this year for all you can eat crabs?

"Oh by the way we took our car home with us when we left!!!! "

Good thing you did 8:52 because those people are asinine and would have towed your car completely against their own policy of NO OVERNIGHT PARKING.
Then when the victim complained they took revenge. I won't eat there. I care about my family unlike you 8:52. Who in their right mind would ever take their family to a restaurant that instead of handling complaints gracefully and diplomatically, instead chooses revenge.
With that kind of attitude people should be afraid to even ask for more ice in their soda.

9:23 lol unfortunately you are 1000% right!

AGREED +1 Poster 9:23 AM

My sentiments exactly...

What possible benefit could they see from towing cars?

Like every other issue, give it a couple weeks and people will forget and be right back there.

I was at REd Roost on Sunday and they had record breaking weekend :-) We love the Red Roost. They said a lot of the customers were talking about the Old Mill and what happened there. Our food and service were awesome at the Roost - like it always is.

I'm not big on any place that promotes a climate of revenge as opposed to making an attempt to come to an amicable agreement with someone who is unhappy.
They have set a bad example with the staff.

Roost was out of crabs Sunday night.

8:52-We were there on Sunday night also & the food was fantastic. The service was really good as well.

I'm 8:52...Grow up, they own the property and run the business...it's their right! The person should have spoken with someone before leaving and there would have not been an issue. Some people think they are "entitled" to do whatever, whenever they want, well there's a price for that in their case it cost $90... LOL ha ha ha ha I really think it's funny regardless of the what everyone else thinks. Have a nice week...we like the Red Roost as well and frequent BOTH and will continue to do so!!!

It is our right to not eat at OLd Mill and we never will again!

This why our country is in the shape it is in. Yes it is their business BUT we keep it that way. As long as ignorant people go they will continue to be ignorant. I will NEVER go any where that the people who make them money are treated poorly. It is my understanding that they treat their employees poorly also. Keep going, when they piss you off you will be one here. One great service and one great nite of food does not make a business successful. The original owner where from Delmar, these people who knows. You can tell they really are only in for money, not customer service or quality of food. The are relying on the Name that was built up by someone else. It will fail eventually and maybe we can get good, honest, caring eastern shore owners.

12:28-You need to grow up big time. You are a poor example of a human being, not fit to lick chicken manure off the shoes of the lady who had her car towed. Anyone who thinks it funny that she had her car towed after choosing to not drive under the influence and endangering others has some severe character flaws. What kind of trash raised you 12:28? Lower class example of parents certainly.
When you have a sign up that says no overnight parking you wait until the overnight is over then tow the car. This is not even debatable. They were wrong. And while it may be their "right" to do anything they want, the community doesn't need them. They need the community and they better not ever forget it.
Now go away 12:28. You are dismissed. I don't do low class.

8:52 I think you should grow up as well. Yes they own the property and the business, however it is a customer service driven business. While what Old Mill did was within the letter of the law(although if the signs were not clearly posted that might be questionable) that doesn't make it right. Just as George Zimmerman may have been within the law when he shot Trayvon Martin that does not make it right.
I own and live in a condo in OC that is clearly marked with unit #'s on the parking spaces and prominently posted signs about cars illegally parked being towed. In the 8 years I have lived there year round I have had over 30 instances where I have come home from work and had cars parked in my clearly numbered space. I have never had a car towed even though it is my legal right to do so. I have been pissed off and left notes but never had a car towed and I am not in the hospitality business.
Why didn't I have them towed, because I am a grown up and not a childish a**.
I do believe in Karma and that you reap what you sow. Good luck to you and Old Mill.

Well, that escalated quickly.

Sounds like 1:26 and 1:38 are the ones that need to grow up. Licking chicken manure off shoes? What are you, 10 years old? Anyway, I don't agree with having the woman arrested. That being said, it sounds like they had the car towed because it was left there. How would they know if the driver of it left drunk or not? I wouldn't pin the "they don't care about people driving drunk" on the Old Mill. Looking into something further before an arrest is made, yes of course! And that's my opinion. Thanks for the update, Joe!

Maybe 8:52 wanted to give them another chance before they kicked them to the curb. Everyone makes mistakes, hopefully the Old Mill has learned from theirs.

You are offensive 12:28. The victim didn't think they were entitled to anything. They were being responsible in choosing to not drive drunk. Hard to believe anyone would think that it's funny that choosing to be responsible cost them money. I hope you don't have children. They would have been better off being aborted than to have had the terrible misfortune of having you as a parent.

" That being said, it sounds like they had the car towed because it was left there"

It wasn't left there overnight though 2:51. Their sign stated no overnight parking. How can anyone agree with them towing the car before the night was over.
To me it's not rocket science. If you see a car left you give the benefit of the doubt and leave the car alone. There are only a few reasons why the car would be there. Car trouble or a driver who felt it better to leave the car being 2 of them. If it's still there the next day, then tow it.

Whatever people! The Old Mill should not have towed it so quickly. Also, the owner of the car should have been responsible enough to let them know she was leaving it there. They were both in the wrong! Let's move on and I hope the perfect people on here that are casting stones never makes a mistake. Show a little grace and forgiveness here, life is short!!

For anyone that is saying the car shouldn't of been towed because it wasn't left overnight: They don't allow overnight parking so they have it towed before the car can be left overnight. If they left the car overnight then they would of allowed the car to be left overnight. I personally think they should of just locked the gates and left a note on the window. Then again, I am not the owner. I am sure they didn't know why the car was left there. So many rednecks here would of got in the car and knocked down the gate or cut to locks costing the owner more money. I know the owner doesn't have to but he should get on here and give his side of the story.

5:44pm...I apologize for being critical, but PLEASE... "shouldn't OF", "would OF"...think about those phrases...they make NO sense! It is shouldn't HAVE and would HAVE (the contractions being shouldn't've and would've). SO many people are writing these things incorrectly, it just makes me crazy!!! Now, all of you whiners and complainers, go ahead and jump on my criticism but I am trying to be helpful. It just makes folks look stupid when they have no command of the English language. Carry on with the debate!
Personally, I think the owners jumped too quickly to tow, the girl definitely should have told someone they were leaving the car to go get a sober driver, the girl should not have made such a threat on Facebook, and the Old Mill/Police were over the top arresting her for it.

Too many dining options in the area for me continue to going there.

Unfortunate incident. Salute decision not to drive 'under influence'. Poor decision to drink that much (just beer).

Car abandoned in lot at closing time without explanation. Want to secure their odd shaped lot until next business day. Much easier to tow from the empty lot than if other customers have started to arrive. May have had previous problems with misuse of lot by others; dunno.

Only heard one side about interaction between driver and business before the FB posting. Generally like to hear both sides.

FB posting used alarming words; prudent of business to have cops check it out. Better safe than sorry. Judge agreed.

Coincidence that RR was celebrating big anniversary past week. Only had good experiences both places, but it's been a couple of years (college tuitions = poorer parent).
