There were a lot of mysteries surrounding the attempt to seize control of the Wicomico County Education Association in Maryland just prior to a vote on disaffiliation, but the biggest one was how a group of members with no authorization other than a handful of petitions managed to persuade a bank, an Internet service provider and a locksmith to grant them access to the local union’s property and finances. It seemed absurdly easy.
Now EIA has learned that the “interim managers” received one stamp of approval that was just enough to gain entry to the WCEA premises and possession of its money – that of Maryland State Education Association chief counsel Kristy K. Anderson.
Despite its later claim of neutrality, the state union was involved in the takeover as it happened. Anderson was not only present as the interim managers entered the building, she personally paid for the locksmith to change the locks. Here is a scan of the receipt with her signature. I have redacted the section that shows her home address and phone number.

Not a shocker. These big union thugs are all criminals. Every teacher in the state of Maryland should be disgusted by this.
Whoop-de-doo! What does it all mean, Basil?
The author of this article poses an excellent question..."what MSEA governing body authorized her actions, and when?" My guess is they bypassed any "governing body" and just did it....that's what these union officials do. This Anderson lady should be fired and reported to the Barr Association for her actions along with the other MSEA officials that were in on it....cuz you know they were!!
Handful of petitions was really 60% is the entire membership signing their names to get Kelly Stephenson out. It's pretty simple - if you don't want to belong to a union, don't join one. The teachers of this county won't allow ONE person to destroy it from within.
It's a witch hunt and an embarrassment to the teachers of wicomico county. Who would be dumb enough now to ever join msea. If you don't like Stephenson then vote her out. You have embarrassed our local teachers as well as our county. No wonder people laugh when they hear how we act down hard.

Do your own research.
If you don't understand what it means then you are naïve.
Read man!
12:11...How did ONE person try to destroy the union? I assume you are speaking of Kelly. All Kelly did was offer the membership an opportunity to choose for THEMSELVES. If Kelly acted alone, don't you think she would of just disaffiliated the union on her own? But that didn't happen...she put it out for the whole membership to decide but the voice of the membership was taken away by MSEA and the Interim Managers... something the members see ever so clearly...
Hey 12:11 you forgot to tell all of the story.....those signatures were never verified! Did you tell how some school employees were told to "sign the sign-in sheet", when MSEA came around to spread their lies? Well lets tell the real story..... there were only about 420 valid signatures. Some were not members and others you couldn't read. There was NO date on the petition nor any phones numbers so that people could be called to verify that they knew what they were signing. Keep up the lies and you won't have any members next year because the current members have had enough of your crap. The dues have become ridicules and with no raises people have to make cuts somewhere. I know where I'll save some money next year.
The petitions are a joke. just like you idiots that are doing the dirty work for msea. Gary, is this going to help get you that retirement job? You guys are acting like children. You should vote Kelly out of office instead of making the entire board of ed look like a bunch of stupid children. Kristy is laughing all the way to the bank on the backs of you gullible moots. It will be hilarious to see how fast they deny any knowledge of what you all have done.
You shouldn't refer to those signatures until they are verified 12:11 because I have first hand experience with someone signing my name on one. It was for the referendum for the OC workers to form a union. I was vocal in saying I wasn't signing it so quite a few people knew my position.
The night before the election I get a call from a woman with a Baltimore number reminding me that I had signed the petition and to remember to vote the next day. I told her I didn't sign it, but she insisted I did. I asked her about where I could have a copy of it sent to me and she hung up on me.
As a member, I am requesting that MSEA President Betty Weller come out with a statement about MSEA's role in the illegal takeover of our local association. Will I be receiving as many emails about these acts and how MSEA aided these Interim Managers as I did in reference to your opposition with disaffiliation Betty Weller? As the elected MSEA President, shouldn't you provide us dues paying members with an explanation? It would be a far stretch to say MSEA had nothing to do with it. The hard evidence is right here in this post for all to see. Betty Weller, this is not the kind of behavior I expect from the leader of my professional organization, especially for the cost.
